FF7 Rebirth was Japan's no.1 selling game for March. Ampere data suggests it has sold around 2 Million copies. |UP| Analysts says it's underperforming

I am very curious if Atlus/SEGA can replicate the success of P5 with P6.
P5 is such an outlier when you compare the sales of previous games in the franchise.

The franchise is growing but Atlus isn't doing themselves any favors.

They continue to cheap out on fans hoping to bleed them of every penny and I assure you it'll come back to bite them soon enough.

I would probably say that Persona is probably more profitable now than Final Fantasy, simply because the games probably cost significantly less to produce and they get absolutely milked for all they're worth.

The spending power of the population matters. Nigeria is populous but doesn't have much of a middle class comparatively.

Zhuge doesn't report game sales usually. I don't remember ever seeing his tweets like Pi(g)scatella or Dring?

Why is he the one making reports on FF7? And why this game in particular?

this is all a concentred push to try and make FF Multiplatform day 1 in the future. This discourse would not even happen if Sony bought Square which is hilarious

the constant astroturfing campaigns are insane. This is the only negative news they can try and spin whilst Playstation users are actively playing and buying games for the past 4-5 months.

Absolutely pathetic

It absolutely would. The discussion would move away from the ludicrous assertion that buying a multiplatform publisher and making their games exclusives is somehow better than funding 3rd party exclusives to "Xbox is making their titles multiplatform and Sony should, too" with complete disregard as to the financial situations of both companies' platform businesses.

Xbox is in absolute dire straits. There is no saving the platform.

What square does moving forward will be interesting. Consumers are telling them that they prefer 14 and 16 over 7. It’s how they react that matters now.

Switch 2 will also be a huge, huge opportunity for them.

There’s no guarantee that switch2 will be huge. Price is going to be a factor and availability will be a factor as well. Most of the software sold on the switch 2 will be Nintendo software and it’s gonna take years if not half a decade to get to a sizable user base where third parties can also thrive by then. PS five will either be at over 100 million sold or Sony’s moved onto the PS6. Eithe way, the bulk majority of third-party software is going to be on PlayStation for the foreseeable future.

The biggest mistake Square/Sony did with Rebirth is having that dumb line in all the trailers and promo material "Exclusive until May 29th 2024". Speculation and bad WOM went into overdrive after that. People were saying it's going to be on PC/Xbox and even Game Pass after that date!

What's the point of this dumb shit? Is it a legal matter? It killed some of the hype that's for sure.
