NGL, I really hate the idea of trailer announcements and how Disney popularized such a stupid concept and how it spread.

Looking forward to this. I wonder if it will be part of a PlayStation Showcase or something separate.

Can't see Square-Enix having two events in one season (their TGS event being one having gone through already). I think this increases the likelihood of a PS Showcase but I wouldn't expect one until early November.

That way they can give GOW Ragnarok another showing before its release (among other things obviously).

Yeah, possibly. It could be that Square Enix just shows off a new trailer with a release date and that's it. I do think the chances of a PlayStation Showcase has decreased after last week's State of Play. I hope Sony does have a showcase but after the State of Play, im no longer expecting one for 2022.

Tbh I don't even wanna see more God of War, I feel like we've seen enough

There will most likely still be a launch trailer next month though

Well that would kind of suck tbh. I mean there's a good chance there is no extended Showcase this year, but Sony've kind of set up an expectation for a Fall showcase for the past couple of years already and both times they were fantastic.

Between talk of this FF XVI trailer though and more RE4 Remake to be shown off, plus word on so many PSVR2 games in development (we've barely seen sneak peeks at a small handful of them), I still think there is a chance for a Showcase, albeit with slimmer margins.

It is a really story-heavy game, that's a good reason to not show too much before release I'd presume x3.

Launch trailer is definitely coming, also interested in what big marketing they have planned. Anything on the level of stuff like the Spiderman train thing, for example.

Agreed but the last two years, they didn't have a State of Play in September. 2020 made sense because they were launching PS5 two months later and 202 made sense since they had no holiday games and wanted to show fans what they have coming. For 2022, they have God of War Ragnarok and afterwards, can show one or two games at The Game Awards which usually has the most views for any single showcase. Also, while they obviously have plenty of games in development, I don't think that they're ready to be showcased especially when Sony wants to make sure that when they're shown, they're at the highest quality level possible. With State of Play and the Tokyo Game Show happening last week and with The Game Awards in early December, I would actually prefer a PlayStation Showcase in late February because it spreads out the shows and I get an event in between TGA and E3 2023 between usually, there's never any major events or showcases in this time period.

Agree with the second part but im still leaning towards a PSVR 2 only showcase in early 2023 with a release date, pricing and bunch of games being shown to really put a spotlight on it as opposed to just stuffing them into a regular State of Play or PlayStation Showcase. REmake4 is going to have a separate showcase in October so they don't need to be in a PlayStation Showcase plus they'll probably have a trailer at The Game Awards too. I can see FFXVI having a trailer and then in early 2023 when Sony does have their Showcase, a longer trailer and release date for the game gets shown.

With Sony having God of War Ragnarok in November and Microsoft having basically nothing, Sony doesn't really need to hold a showcase and if they don't have anything ready to be released in the first 3-6 months of 2023, then all the more reason to hold the showcase for early 2023 in my opinion.

Sony is gonna look really bad if they dont have a showcase for 2023 games cause microsoft actually have a stacked line up next year, and nintendo have BoTW2.

If they have a showcase it wouldnt be for games this year it would be for next year and 2024. This year is over.. Ragnarok is the last hurrah
