This is a lot less than microsoft was demanding iinm

*edit* I'm not mistaken, sony got largely what it wanted. Excluded employee performance reviews and limited the scope of what it had to turn over (microsoft wanted everything going back to 2012, sie now has to disclose contracts past 2019).

How desperate you are.

They already have access to all the Activision and Bethesda agreements.

Activision is the biggest and juiciest deal and they have that already. Ghostwire and Deathloop were also recent so basically they can copy/paste that deal for everything.

Microsoft also have the exact same agreements with third-parties. Nothing shocking.

Most of Sony's requests were denied, the biggest 'win' they got out of this is that instead of showing all agreements from 2012, they have to show them from 2019.

Still, that's gonna be some valuable juicy information as to how much Sony pays for third party exclusives and their clauses preventing third parties from putting games on game pass or other sub services.

You need to read the whole opinion and not just the clip that was posted by console warriors. Go ahead, the link is in the Twitter post.

I literally just posted the result sheet showing that the majority of their quashing requests were denied, who the fuck cares what some plebs on twitter are saying 🤭

Like I said, the biggest thing they 'won' is the timeline of how long they have to show documents. Things like jim ryan's performance bonus is irrelevant and always felt like a troll request on MS's behalf to make the request spicier lol.

MS and any other company has that same clause for competing services. This is nothing.

I'm sure, but it'll be good to see some #'s against it, if any of this leaks in the first place.

will this prove that Sony paid to keep games from releasing on other platforms or just get marketing deals like Hogwarts Legacy ?

There are more numbered requests granted than denied. That’s not what majority means.

This will be information about how much they pay for keeping games off of other platforms and services like game pass, things that can be used in any number of court cases.

You can pretend MS is squeaking out a "win" or whatever here but it's just being as pathetic as much of Microsoft's public theatrics and grandstanding for approval over the deal has turned out to be.

If you're dumb enough to think Sony were performing antitrust practices to lock 3P developers and publishers away from Xbox, and genuinely believe MS have a "smoking gun" to therein get favor for the deal's approval, you need to put down the pipe and the freebase.

adamsapple forgets how to count when it doesn't suit his narrative, apparently.

Again, if you're dumb enough to think publishers needed to be paid money to prevent bringing games to a platform that saw rampant game cancellations in 2017, that saw its own parent company scale back on funding during the Myerson years, that turned down offers from Marvel of its own volition, and decided not to pursue exclusivity deals of their own until a year or two before the launch of their own 9th-gen systems...

...well there's no helping you. Sorry if I seem a bit harsh, but after reading some genuinely fourth-dimensional stupidity from Alek on ResetERA, even mildly dumb comments are going to look 10x worst ATM 😂

How does this actually affect the case? Proving that Sony doesn’t need COD?

MS want Sony to prove that having access to COD is important to their ability to produce the marquee 1P games that they make.

Which should be obvious considering that is basically guaranteed revenue which helps PS subsidiary function in a self-sufficient capacity (it doesn't create a financial resource drain on the other parts of the company to pump it with cash in order to produce the hardware, software & services at the level they are currently created), but of course Microsoft don't understand that.

After all, Microsoft's own key divisions make so much money over Xbox that they can afford to drop pocket change into the Xbox division that is the equivalent of operating income PlayStation and Nintendo have to actually work and earn of their own merits. They don't have a Windows, Office, & Azure safety net.

MS and any other company has that same clause for competing services. This is nothing.

Yep. If a platform holder is putting up money to help market and promote the game, they are not going to be idiotic and keep a backdoor open so a competing platform holder, who put in no money to help promote the game, just sweeps in and coasts off that hard work for free by dropping the game into a cheap subscription service.

Thinking such a clause to prevent that scenario is a "gotcha" is a new level of pathetic from certain people over this stuff. It really just shows how little they understand the nature of actual business.

Are we going to get a comparable, so we have something to ... you know compare what these deals should be?
