Brian Horton, who was publicly named as the creative director of Sony/Insomniac’s upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine PS5 game in 2021, has been off the project since the summer, two sources familiar with the matter told Game File.

The game is now being helmed by creative director Marcus Smith, a rep for Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed to Game File. Mike Daly will serve as Wolverine’s new game director.

As for Horton, who previously worked as the creative director on another lauded Insomniac game, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, he has already found a new high-profile gig.

He’s the new creative director of the Xbox-published Perfect Dark, the highly-anticipated first-person shooter that is being co-developed by Microsoft’s The Initiative and Embracer-owned Crystal Dynamics. Horton will be “bringing his wealth of experience to the upcoming reboot of the classic secret agent series,” an Xbox rep confirmed to Game File.

He was quickly replace by the other guy who was the creative director of rachet and clank rift apart.

Not saying is good but it isn't too bad either. R&C is really good. Will look forward to whatever ends up happening

Was he the one who wanted Rivet to be more feminine with bigger boobs and ass?

Didn’t he leave the initiative to join Insomniac a while ago?
That was Drew Murray. Horton was originally at CD and was involved in Rise of the Tomb Raider.

I'm excited to see how this develops. The last time something like this happened at Sony was with Uncharted 4, and that title ended up being a very good game and a worthy end to the series.

But I'm still surprised that Xbox presented Perfect Dark "gameplay" but then still needed a creative director.

Seeing as I didn't love SS Miles Morales, I'm not too heart broken over this.
Same.

From what I saw from the leaks, I didn't like the direction Wolverine was going...with Logan obviously not healing like usual and then sections playing as ugly Jean Grey.

Especially with the fallout from Concord and some other high profile games. I think it's time for gaming companies to be far more pragmatic and customer focused.

I'll maintain, no game can work off of 12-16 hours of melee.

I'm totally on board with Jean Grey being in the game as a playable character to break up the monotony. No one has been able to tell me to this date a game with 16 hours of play that is pure melee that is good.

Ah, thanks for the clarification.

Show me a game that has reviewed well that is 16 hours long of pure melee.
If it is the pinnacle of gaming, shouldn't be hard to find.

You know this isn't what I wrote and never made that argument.
I play melee only builds and enjoy them for more than 16 hours, therefore it is peak, in my very subjective opinion.

Well let's think this out logically right?

Wolverine is going to be an expensive game to develop right? They have to sell a considerable number of units just to make up the development cost and the licensing cost right?

Objectively, are there any games that are pure melee and long enough to attract a large audience to make this game make sense?

So not sure how your opinion factors in here...

I want to apologize, I woke up from an unscheduled nap and its near midnight so I was a bit bored and groggy and decided to a little bit non serious. I had forgotten that you're one of the few users here that is almost exclusively about industry talk and would reply in a totally logical and serious manner as always. Therefore chances are you were never going to go tit for tat and now it's just an awkward interaction.

I am here, with pure melee Barbarian build and 300h under my belt, 500h in NioH with double swords just owning my own business in the corner with popcorns 🙃

P.s. Borderlands, just shooting build, 500h just pure monotomy, the same as other pure shooters and people spending thousands of hours on those..
they sure need melee to break the monotony.. oh wait.. 😁
