I thought I remember an article saying there numbers went up a bit?
I mean this was the whole point of putting AAA on gamepass day 1, increase subs and keep them there. Lol Phil
I remember article about “expecting” to increase around 4 million… after the release everybody gone silent.

I'm sure they probably got a bump of at least a few million. The real question is how much of that bump will exist in another month or two?

This is why i refuse to believe Xbox is at 30M sold or shipped.

They’ve been selling like this for 4 years and being down by large percentages every month and year over year.

The Xbox brand is no longer relevant. If it were any other company the console would of been shut down from the market already.

They were at roughly 25 million sold-through at the start of this year. At best, they're at 26.5-27 million sold-through as of this month.

It's been horrid for them, absolutely horrid on the console sales front.

It is not... best estimates it is around 28m.
And that is the best case.

Remember the comment of 60% more sold by Nadella. Could it be that they used last year sales of cod, but because they launched earlier they compared tail end sales vs new launch?

The consequences seem to be more revenue and higher profits. Doubling switch at double the price and 10x Xbox. Sony look to be doing fine.

Lol if you're talking about their latest results, they refer to Q2 FY2024, i.e. there's no Concord fiasco in there.

Give it a couple more quarters and see how well they're doing.

Sony focusing on profitability is what is allowing them to make an aggressive move like buying Kadokawa.

So many people lambasted Sony for not spending enough on SIE and I told them that investment was coming. They'd already put up to 3.6B on Bungie and now we're talking about probably a 2 billion dollar investment in SIE (as a percentage of overall value of Kadokawa).

And here's a little secret... They're not done after this.

Maybe they won't be able to get CDPR because they don't want to deal with Sony, but Sony will continue to be aggressive in building itself up and building up their portfolio.

Hardware Europe October 2024 [5 weeks] :

1-PS5 : 272.000 (-29%)
2-NSW : 120.000 (-10%)
3-X/S : 30.000 (-49%)

(422.000 units : -12%)
(481.000 units for 2023)
PS5 was at 383k last year, that's over a 100k drop off, another mediocre month across Europe.

Xbox was 61k last year, I don't even wanna see the sales this time next year if there will be any.

Core gamer spend will be naturally down. But we'll see what casual gamer spend looks like during the holidays. The economic realities of Europe aren't going to shift Sony to cut prices early. That's just a reality. Unless MAUs drop across Europe, Sony knows they're still just playing PS4 and they're more than happy for them to wait to get the PS5 next year for GTA6 or current gen exclusive EA FC.

For some reason some posters (I'd call them doomers) are so focused on this years sales rather than the bigger picture that Sony is focused on.

If Sony dropped the price of the PS5 by 100 dollars, that creates a 2 billion dollar hole where one didn't need to be (after selling 20 million units at that price).

And why are you focused on those numbers? Because you definitely don't care that those gamers are largely playing F2P games on PS4 or annual sports titles.

I mean, what's the point in commenting in a sales thread if we don't wanna discuss the numbers and how the console is tracking? That's the whole point of us discussing numbers here and posting these threads. Low adoption rate and shortages are the reason this generation has been so limped

Subtract 2 years off this generation because of covid too.
