Helldivers is proof that titles don't need to be multiplat for success.

This puts to rest any fearmongering that any title needs to be multiplatform to be successful. Platforms that games launch on are based on a calculus that each publisher decides, and going multiplatform does not guarantee success and being exclusive is not indicative of lost sales.
Sony never needed to go multiplatform to be successful, they always have been successful focusing on their console.

Being exclusive or multiplatform doesn't guaranteee success, but being multiplatform means a bigger userbase reach / amount of potential customers, meaning more potential sales.

I mean, Helldivers 2 on PS5 alone would have been successful. Being also in PC, it's even way more successful.

The thing is, the level of success needed to make $300M+ games profitable isn't the same that $150M games needed. So as AAA gamedev costs increase every generation the level of success they'll need for their games will be bigger. Because a few of their top selling IPs can sell over $300M per game, but they work in 2-3 dozen games and only a few of them are from these IPs. Soo looking at the future they have additional revenue sources (GaaS, PC, mobile, movie/tv adaptations) to ensure that success.

He made “another” bad comment.
And had to correct himself.
It wasn't a bad comment and didn't correct anything because there was nothing to fix there, he just added extra context/info.
