Do we think Sony has stepped in with more major funding for Arrowhead to keep this going? I think this would’ve happened already for future content delivery.

12 million sold copies is a helluva amount of money for both Sony and Arrowhead. If it just 12 million players, that wouldn't be enough

The Hifi rush example like that isn’t relevant to Helldivers. Gamepass metric bs isn’t the same.

This is an online game which lives or dies on player retention. Player engagement means just as much if not more than units sold with the intent of building on it further. The launch window success is highly encouraging without question. The player retention rate of collapse should be somewhat alarming tho.

The cadence of cosmetics and weapons delivered thru warbonds cost resources. Server maintenance, balances, all of that is perpetual game development.

I'm talking about player numbers. Player numbers is not same as sold copy, even if HD2 isn't on some sub service. That's the whole point.

It shouldn't. Just because 12 mil. sold copies. They can now develop a Helldivers 3

Most important.

Less important. Basically meaningless Look at HIFI Rush and its famous 3 million players. And what happened in the end? 3 million players didn't bought a game

In a paid game it isn’t. If people are buying the game who really cares how long they play.

Most will return anyway when new factions are included a bit like people return to Destiny 2.

In an F2P dependent solely on Microtransactions and DLC yes definitely.

Helldivers 2 really does need a new faction ASAP to renew interest in the game especially from the 12 million buyers they already have.

As we know, after seen the unexpected huge success of the launch weeks they reworked their plans for post launch support meaning that yes, Sony did put more money to fund it.

But that requires time: design and production to rework the roadmap, later HR to hire the extra people they'll need and then time to implement it.

GaaS reevalate and change their post-launch content roadmap periodically depending on game's user acquisition, user retention and monetization performance and after seeing that works and what doesn't, what works in the competition and what they think the game needs.

the game alredy made its money and it still has a higher player count than most live service games.

It’s a marathon not a race. If they can maintain 70k CCU’s (even half that) for years then its still doing way better than not.

70K doesn’t even include PS5.

Secondly since it is a paid game the CCU will naturally be lower.
