On a exclusive duo interview with the two CEO's Hideaki Nishino & Hermen Hulst, read more on Variety

Nishino speaking on the Pro
''So that’s where we designed the generation at this moment. We design everything with having one ahead in our mind. It’s not like we just make a next step and we don’t know about the two steps ahead. That’s not our way of working, because we need to make sure that the 10-year-old, generation cycle continues to be going as well.''

Referring to ML/PSSR benefiting next-gen console
''But the main thing was, there are technologies we can grow up in three years time or five years time. So the innovation and technology advancement is more quicker in a modern world.''

Hermen when asked if there are big titles announced soon next to Yotei to be played on the Pro
(basically non direct answers)
''We spend a lot of time doing portfolio planning, and platform is a big part of that. So when we were doing our planning from early stages of PlayStation 5, it was really important to get really high quality titles on PlayStation 5 right out of the gate.''

10 years is around what a generation last.
But a new console comes in 6-7 years with the others 3-4 years being the cross-gen period where the previous console continue to sell.

PS6 should be launching in 2026-2028.

Let’s see what happens.

Yes. There's almost exactly 7 years of difference between PS3 and PS4 launch and between PS4 and PS5 launch. If PS6 gets released 7 years later, it would be around November 2027.

Considering that this generation the users are waiting more time to upgrade and that games take longer to be made, I think they'll prefer to don't release PS6 too soon in order to milk better the PS5 gen.
Yes, excluding Vita all PS consoles had a 10+ years long lifetime, as mentioned by Nishino.

Yeah it would make more sense to wait until November 2028 or November 2029 before releasing a PS6 tbh.

Nothing new. Playstation consoles always continued to get games long after the next console launch. The PS1 lasted until 2005 for example.

Ps4 still had juice as shown by the long cross generation period. I can't see the day where a PS5 or Xbox series are considered obsolete TBH.

Yeah Tom Henderson mentioned at least 2028 for PS6 after being correct about when the Pro would launch.
I could see them extend the gen even longer due to development timelines and the so called coveted margins. The Pro will definitely hold its own longer than expected due to PSSR.

Does Hermens even know what games are being made
Seems absolutely clueless
Yeah, give credit to the journalist for asking for more big announcements but he obviously beat around the bush. Only nugget he gave was unrelated to gaming lol, that there are 10 PS Productions in works

Reading between the lines basically ''it's ready when it's ready''
Hulst and Nishino have adopted a “show, don’t tell” leadership style at PlayStation. “It’s important we convey our strategy,” says Hulst. “But at the end of the day, I am with the creators a big chunk of time.”

He was asked pretty clear question, answer? Nothing to do with question 😂

Well… this is similar to the 360/PS3 gen but I’d argue the world is in far worse condition than it was then. I expect this gen to run similar in length for sure. We got another 4 years at least.

Then again…. Nintendo fans will claim next gen launches with the next gameboy as it runs games at ps4 spec 🤣

He obviously know them, since he's the one who greenlighted them and periodically reviews their progress. He's on charge of all the first party games on development, which are more than ever, around half of them are new IPs and the majority of them aren't GaaS.

But as they mentioned prefer to focus on making and releasing games instead of in marketing games to be released in the far future. Which as Druckmann said in the Grounded documentary removes pressure from devs and allows them on spending their time on making the game and not demos for a trailer/event demo (and prevents criticism is the final game doesn't ends looking as they thought at that point years before release).

Since a few years ago, with some exception Sony prefers to market games that are a few months from being released, normally maximum under around a year and a half or less from release.

He will be known as the guy who killed Playstation.
PlayStation is having its biggest revenue, profit, active userbase, user playtime and money spent per user ever. Nobody killed PlayStation.

Nothing necessarily rather confirmation, main takeaways:

- Won't cut the gen short for competitors (Switch 2/Xbox?)
- Continue Pro model to keep up with (faster) innovations
- PSSR going to benefit PS6
- 10 PS Production in works

Non answers idd, I will give him one thing, he's pretty diplomatic but he doesn't lie or give false promises ^^
