I mean i dont doubt that MS has looked at trying to buy valve for Steam and pc market. They couldnt then just switch to a pc with steam built in for low end “console like” buy ins to continue gamepass integration and still retain a console player presence. It no doubt would have to be as cost friendly as possible otherwise whats even the point

I can see them being very expensive, adding a couple hundred bucks to the asking price. They will be like graphics cards with some extra fans and their own custom cooling.

Microsoft had to undercut their machines heavily to make them competitive, selling them at a loss, they wont have to bother with that anymore>?

These will be high powered Steam Machine type devices and lines up with their statement that next gen they will have super powerful hardware. OP is off the mark with the low powered PC comment, I mean they may do that too but their will definitely be high powered options from various OEM's.

PS4 and Xbox One were also very low end PCs, as are both companies' current gen consoles.

The thing is not just going to run vanilla Windows like some ROG Ally bullshit, it'll be more like the Steam Deck's SteamOS but with a far better version of what Valve does with Proton.

After the Series S I have no doubt it will be weak and underpowered, they think people are too stupid to care about real value. Being as cheap as possible is not good value.

Yep, PS4, Xbox one, ps5, series x etc are all just low end pcs.

It won't run windows. Xbox already uses a modified version of windows iirc.

It won't be better than proton because linux is inherently superior to windows.

The hope that the selling point of a next Xbox is that it’s no longer an Xbox but a pre built where you can play PlayStation and PC games tells you everything you need to know about how desperate these Xbox shills are.

They have run out of silver bullets, it’s not even understandable anymore what they even want. It’s like the only thing that matters is for the brand’s name to survive no matter what.

Can't wait for people to buy a subsided Xbox hardware and uninstall Windows and install Linux.

Linux is inherently superior to Windows in the context of running Windows software? That makes absolutely zero sense.

I’m saying that Microsoft has the resources available to them to make a better translation layer than Proton, because they have the DirectX source code available to them.
