So If you could Reboot / Remake any game..

  1. Which Game would it be?
  2. If you had the choice what Developer would you want?
  3. Would you rewrite the Story? (If not the whole story, Which parts?)
  4. Who would you want to do the Soundtrack?
  5. What Voice Actors would you want to part of it?
  6. Who would be the perfect Publisher for the game?

The budget is what ever is needed.
Go wild, Have fun and lets see what you're dream game would be.

Super Metroid. Exact remake just with updated pixel art.

But I’m concerned it would end up looking hideous and be butchered like New Super Mario Bros. or something.

Dark Messiah! I would upgrade the entire graphics pipeline. I would keep the game mechanics the same. I would make it an open world rpg/adventure with at least 100hrs to finish the game.

I really did like that game, especially kicking people off the cliffs.

For my game, i would go with the original Deus ex.

1: Panzer Dragoon Saga

2: The original PD Saga team and Ueda's team combined

3: No story re-writes necessary. But, maybe some parts expanded upon here and there.

4: Same composers who did the original game's OST

5: Doesn't really matter to me, as long as they can capture the feel of the VA from the original release

6: Either Sony or Nintendo. I don't think Sega would give it the budget it deserves, and Microsoft won't give it the marketing or guidance it deserves. However, I don't know if Sony would want to publish a game like PD Saga, though I think they would be able to provide the funding and resources needed. Nintendo is more likely to publish such a game but then it would have to be gimped down to run on a Switch :S

So all of that said, provided the budget could be adequate, I guess Sega would still be the best publisher, at least for certain regions. Maybe Annapurna could publish it in Western territories. Let Futatsugi and Ueda form a core team with key Team Andromeda and Japan Studio members, working with some members from Atlus, Sonic Team & RGG. Some funding and resource help from Sony and their ICE teams, then Sega and Annapurna handling publishing duties unless maybe Sony would want to publish (but I don't see why they would tbh).

I want to play new games experiences so there is not much about remake or remaster that will make me excited.

Said that I hope someday we get a Final Fantasy Tatics or Souls Heaven Reboot/Remaster.

Blood Omen / Legacy of Kain games
MGS3
Castlevania
Marvel V Capcom
Socom
Wipeout

You know I just watched a bunch of vids on legacy of kain series. By far one of the underrated worlds/story lines. Like I , the fact kain is kind of a anti hero/villain is so compelling.

Hope embracer can do something with that IP and get Amy hennig to write or consult/produce reboot/remake.

1. Chrono Trigger.
2. I would try to get as much as the original team together as well as the team that current develops Final Fantasy VII Remake/Rebirth.
3. Unless there was story aspects cut from the final release and it makes sense, no, it all stays as is.
4. Same as the original. Just completely remastered.
5. Would definitely have voice acting. No idea who though.
6. Square Enix since they own the IP.

The remake would be similar to Final Fantasy VII Remake. Real time combat with "slowdown" for when going through menus for spells and whatnot. Would make it the same setup visually as Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Death By Degrees made by Kojima Production

You got me thinking of P.N 03 now. Both that and Death by Degrees were...undercooked. But a lot of potential. They deserve another chance.

Chrono Trigger is probably one of the most protected games in the industry xD. It's always seemed like to me a lot of the fanbase are very specific about what they deem can and can't be done with the IP, and any remake would probably be like stepping on egg shells around them. But that's probably just a loud vocal minority of the fanbase.

Has Square-Enix done an HD Remaster for it yet? If they haven't they are probably considering at least that much. Speaking of JRPGs tho, I gotta throw a rec for Xenogears. It's practically like only 50% complete, the 2nd disc ran into tons of production & budgeting issues, and most of it's basically like a long visual novel or sequence of cutscenes.

Knowing that is one of the reasons I've still held off on playing the game for longer than a few hours; not sure how I would handle such a jarring shift between the two discs where there's so little gameplay for a huge chunk of the game time.
