Chrono Trigger is probably one of the most protected games in the industry xD. It's always seemed like to me a lot of the fanbase are very specific about what they deem can and can't be done with the IP, and any remake would probably be like stepping on egg shells around them. But that's probably just a loud vocal minority of the fanbase.
Has Square-Enix done an HD Remaster for it yet? If they haven't they are probably considering at least that much. Speaking of JRPGs tho, I gotta throw a rec for Xenogears. It's practically like only 50% complete, the 2nd disc ran into tons of production & budgeting issues, and most of it's basically like a long visual novel or sequence of cutscenes.
Knowing that is one of the reasons I've still held off on playing the game for longer than a few hours; not sure how I would handle such a jarring shift between the two discs where there's so little gameplay for a huge chunk of the game time.
Hahaha. Yeah, true, the Chrono Trigger fanbase are nuts but I do understand it because if it's not done to near perfection, then I would prefer them to just leave it as is. I don't think there's been a remaster for it as far as I know.
I never played Xenogears and didn't know any of that. SE should probably just get a team to "complete" it and then re-release it as a remastered version.
