And sell it for $800 -$1500? I don’t think the high risk and slim margins of the console business would be attractive to Apple.

Eventually their phones will be powerful enough to offer casual consumers enough power to just send the image to a tv, tether a bluetooth controller in some form and go for the switch audience.

Dude they're selling a vr headset for $3500, reason doesn't apply to Apple consumers.

Afaik consoles have a carve-out exception to the new regs that require big walled garden platforms to allow other stores onto them
Got a source on that? I haven't heard eitherway if this is coming to consoles in the second or third wave.

Where it’s at.

They’ve been able to do that for almost a decade already.

Most TVs now even have native AirPlay support built in, so all you need is the tv, phone and controller and you’re good to go.

Games are wayyyy more complicated than film though.

All you need for a film is a a few experienced producers and a decent director and they will hire the people they know are decent through their established networks.

Gaming crosses so many disciplines, takes so long and is so entrenched in existing platforms, TV and film was never entrenched... people dont care where the movie came from.
There is not a single ways Apple can break into gaming.

Infracstructure is thing to consider, Apple don't have that.

Sony and Nintendo has big infracstructure to be console manufacturers. It is now much harder to get inside. Companies like Sony and Nintendo are too big too fail in the console gaming spaces. Nintendo got big franchieses like Mario, Pokemon and Sony got great tech, services, marketing, studios behind them.

Also same reasons why Sony haven't really moved into streaming services for TV and movies, since they don't got AT&T, Discorvery, Disney, Apple, Netflix type of infracstructure to support, they do have Aniplex though if it counts.

Same for music, second biggest record holders, still Apple Music, Spotify Youtube Music are the biggest and hard to break into. Spotify is the innovator, Apple Music has iOS platform and Google has Android and Youtube.

In reality Apple cannot break into console gaming, as long as Sony and Nintendo still doing great.

Uh, what? lol

BTW, people laughing at Apple, and the notion they are far ahead of Android ... it's true.

Then you got into support, the quality of the OS etc. I mean I don't care what people like, and I used Android for a few years, but Apple is crushing Google in this space where it matters. 🤷‍♂️

In terms of gaming,I obviously prefer consoles to anything, and for really good reasons. But underestimating Apple's presence in the gaming space seems kind of short sighted. I think people should be kind of afraid of them actually, they have way too much power unless governments step in and break up App Store requirements. Which looks like is happening in Europe at least (yay for Europe).

30% grossing revenues from all mobile games.

It is the same as app's revenue.

I specifically said consoles, not mobiles.

Who cares, they have no exclusive software or studios that would make them unique.

I don't understand the need or desire to have them enter the space.
I mean you dont want having playstation under jim ryan unopposed without having any competition in the future

With xbox incapable making good games, nintendo stuck with potato machine you already seen impact of jim ryan playstation like shutting down more ps studios, increasing subscription, increasing game prices, more focus on gaas game, less first party game, more first party game going to PC etc

Apple definitely can

What do you mean Apple doesn't have the infrastructure? They're the richest company in the world, with the most sophisticated processors in the world, as well as having the highest qualified staff in every position. They 100% can break into console gaming if they chose to.

this is a completely new and improved Apple, no offense to Jobs but Apple is the best they've ever been

This was made after they Fired Jobs, and they rehired him after the console failed

(Yes Steve Jobs was fired from his own company)

No wonder why it was trash. Current Apple is a different beast, if they tried they would 100% succeed.

They are a much larger market then us, Mobile gamers outnumber PC,Sony,Nintendo and Xbox gamers combined.

Apple also makes more profit then all these companies just from games. Unlike Microsoft they always make profit.
