It looks really good from what I've seen but the scope is so limited I'm not impressed in the slightest. You put 6 years on rendering a face close up, it better look damn good. But at the same time it's standing on the shoulders of UE5 and their people rendering tech so ... they didn't even really do the groundwork for it either.

I think from a purely realism point of view I'd say it's the best looking game from what I've seen. But I also don't think the animations of her face are that great oddly enough. And I did play the first ten minutes or so and it's hardly even a game. So I don't really know how to judge it.

One of… yes.

But you need to understand that it is the same case as The Order…
Less resolution to render due the bars.
30fps.

60fps games in theory can at max reach half of what a 30fps game can.

Hellblade 2 graphics aren't bad . However, the problem is that the game is using a 3rd party engine that's going to be used by 99% percent of the industry and the more we see of Unreal 5 on the bigger AAA titles the less special Hellblade 2 graphics are going to be. All these AAA titles running on UE5 I think many people will be able to point out that the titles have UE5 graphics since they're going to share many similar looks and assets. The distinction is not going to be a huge gap and something like Hellblade 2 as a result will not stand out much with its fellow UE5 counterparts.

1 more hour and you finish with the game

I looked it up when I was deciding to drop the game and I was about halfway through so I figured that I probably had another 3 or so hours and I was just like, fuck that. lol Wasn't looking for collectibles either. Just not for me.

A Plague Tale Requiem is a very similar game that does everything better. The only things Hellblade 2 has over it are the facial animations and the combat being more brutal and visceral but in Requiem, the combat is better, deeper, has more depth and strategy to it. Puzzles are far better. And you actually feel like you're progressing in the game.

Honestly yes. Visually it is crazy good looking

I don't care about 30 FPS when the visual bar is pushed like that. I fully expect the next ND game to be target 30 FPS so people are just setting themselves up for embarassment in the future by complaining about that

GTA6 looks a step above it though so we know even better is coming

I still voted no just cause it's funny

I think it looks fantastic, but
  • most of the pictures are at night, for a very good reason since they hide the imperfections
  • I still dislike how fire and water look on it
  • There's black bars top and bottom to cut the amount of rendering required
  • It's literally a corridor linear game
  • Their faces are right in the middle of uncanny valley, they look weird yet amazing at the same time
With all of that said, as far as linear games with limited screen real estate goes, it's the best looking game. Overall however, I cannot agree with that.

It looks pretty damn good but with limited gameplay. It's more of a tech demo. It's similar to The Order. Looked great but not much to do, gameplay wise.

We need standard games that look like this.

Small scale, low interactivity, lack of movement in the environment, low density, combat animations with frame skips, letterboxed, low framerate…

Is this more impressive than the Matrix tech demo? Because that’s what this is. It’s not even doing anything novel in terms of story telling….

The more I see from this game the more I hate the faces and their animation. They look visually outstanding and at the same time they don't look like people.

No. Doesn’t old the candle on some of the gow environments let alone other better looking games

Being the middle of uncanny valley is the worst place to be.

You gave 7/10 to a game you can't even finish?

I explained this in the other topic. It's based on how I rate games via 4 categories. Graphics, Audio, Gameplay/Combat and Story/Characters. Through three hours, I would have rated Hellblade 2 a 9/9/5/5 for an overall rating of 7.0/10. This would be the rating regardless of if I ever completed the game or not.

Thts what happened to me with part 1. Damn I thought you'd like it since you was looking forward to it.

I was looking forward to it because I would think that Ninja Theory would have evolved the combat and made better puzzles but nope. I completed the first Hellblade game and rated it an 8.0/10 overall. Category wise (see above), it was a 9/9/7/7. Sequel needed to evolve and it just doesn't.
