Is there a worse phrase in gaming than "Nobody asked for this?"

Yeah but they don't need to do anything to the game, a straight port would be more than fine
I will admit I would not mind a remaster if it would give Sony an excuse to do so, but
Bloodborne as is, at 4k 60fps would be more than fine. No touch ups to its textures, models, lighting, or anything like that is needed. I feel similarly for Gravity Rush and Gravity Rush 2.

Don’t try to be smart.

not until they stop remastering games that are only one generation old

Remaster of Last generation is BAD. We don’t want them anymore.

Port of Last generation is OK. We want it and Gravity Rush.

Makes sense.

Think before you post.

Okay fine fine I guess its less that I'm against it on principal and more just don't care about stuff like Horizon or Until Dawn.
Horizon and Until Dawn have their fans though and I shouldn't be whiny about em. Beggars can't be choosers, I think might be how you'd put it.

I dunno though, it'd kinda suck if they messed up the art direction if they took the time to update Bloodborne or Gravity Rush graphically beyond like, a resolution and framerate bump. I guess I shouldn't assume that would happen though. I mean I'm THRILLED at Freedom Wars' upcoming remaster and it doesn't change much and it was a Vita game

EDIT: I'm sorry OP, Muddasar convinced me, even saying "nobody asked for this" in response to remasters is meanspirited and there's always *somebody* who wants it

"we need to talk about..."
"imagine thinking..."

I hate the... smugness behind the way certain people talk, even limited within games discussion.

Until Dawn should have been just a simple Remaster for 10$ upgrade. 4k60fps + dualsense, higher quality texture and a new bonus epilogue teasing the sequel.

It's nice to want things, but the reality is that they moved to a new engine, added scenes, made a bunch of changes, etc, so the "Remake" title is granted.

We might never know why they went with UE5 instead of porting the game as is, I suspect the developer were more accustomed to UE5 and the Decima Engine version used in the original might have been too much work to update/port over, so they picked UE5. Also possible they wanted to use UE5 for the rumored sequel.

My guess is it was greenlighted thinking the visual upgrade will be much bigger with Unreal 5. But honestly even Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster has a better visual upgrade

The thing is that "nobody asked for this" implies that people who create should stick to what those who consume their creation/product should stick to whatever is expected.

This is non sense, I think that this is best summed up by Henry Ford himself: “If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses.”

This also goes for creative products, those who stick to the current "winning formula" are bound to create mediocrity in some way (however, from a business stand point they may make pretty good money... so who am I to criticize).

Anyway, there is a balance, but doing stuff nobody asked for is probably the most important thing you can do in your life.
