It's time for Microsoft to pull the plug on Xbox.

I still don't get how it took anyone this long to see that Xbox ain't worth it.

He’s a snake oil salesman. He’s been getting away with over promising and under delivering for the last 8 years. People just won’t care to buy an xbox and it’ll remain that way moving forward. They might as well go 100% third party.
More like 15 years he was already in charge of Xbox games since 2008.

Xbox needs to ditch managerial suits and aim for gamers with business sense. Xbox can be great again, if the direction of the ship is corrected, before it crashes on the rocks of failure and sinks for good

Removing Phil won't change anything. It's rotten at the core. They aren't a gaming company. They are a company in gaming. They should really just concentrate on GP. Their studios will take another 4-6 years to make a game. A good game maybe 7 years. What they need to do is STFU stop trying to play Billy big shot. And move like Nintendo. Just STFU and put games out quitely like Nintendo. All this trying to compete with PS wrecks them everytime.

Phil s guy who hyped Crossfire X, crackdown 3 and state of decay on stage in front of millions (after we played them alegedly). Dude has no clue about gaming.
Series re worst xbox platform of all time. I d rate them

Original xbox>360>bone>series.

Xbox needs to die and so does Gamepass as it is. That's how MS will h be able to at least salvage some of the studios they currently own.

MS doesn't have what it takes to support a console or run a service like this, none of what is happening is surprising.

The value of Gamepass vanishes once you don't have to pay for online so it is a lot less appealing on PC, that's on top of their PC store being garbage and all their games being on Steam.

Gamepass makes no financial sense at all and will kill all their studios at this pace.

Xbox doesn't need to die, it needs to get back to when it was a decent console/department and trying to emulate Nintendo, Sony and Sega. Since 2010 they went from crap to a detriment to the industry, there's no argument there.

Having just Sony and Nintendo doesn't offer us more choice and if Xbox leaves the industry, it will be replaced my another American big-tech firm. As bad as Microsoft are, and they are bad, at least their incompetence stops them from really becoming a big evil in the industry.

Imagine an Apple console, where the games are now £150 a pop and the console costs £1500. The pubs/devs would flock to that as it offers them more profit. 3rd parties - the majority of which are American and of them, all of them employ scumbag tactics, would choose Apple's high price all day long.

Gamepass is a brilliant idea with terrible execution aimed at the wrong part of the market. It should be equivelent to a Football clubs' Youth Academy, not offering top-flight games for pennies on the £

Never going to happen. Xbox will NEVER be PlayStation or Nintendo. How can you not see it?

It doesn't matter what you wish was true, the reality is that for 25 years MS has offered an inferior product and it just keeps getting worse and more costly for them to keep this up.

This whole notion that the market needs Xbox is misguided, no market needs an universally rejected product. Xbox existence hurts players, devs and publishers. Xbox only pushed Sony to be worse and had a negative influence on the market.

Should have Sony made their own Series S? Should Sony have gone all in on services? Is charging for online a good thing?

They could be. They have the resources, the network, the software experience and hardware experience. They just lack the management to bring everything together.

OG Xbox and Xbox 360 were not inferior products. The RRoD was due to cheaping out on cost after Moore signed "the most expensive cheque in video game history" and Microsoft cannot be defended for that, and it bit them in the arse. However, they did release quality games on Og Xbox and 360, even excluding those they money-hatted.

Xbox is better the devil you know in console form.

Yea, you are in denial if you think owning a Xbox over a PS1 or a 360 over a PS3 was the superior experience for those gens.

Keep dreaming of this fabled Xbox come back. It's not going to happen any time soon and until then MS will just keep tryimg to destroy the viability of the console market.

Between 2005 and 2008, Yes.
You would buy an Xbox over PS3. Though, I didn't. I went with PC+PS3 at that time.
Original Xbox was a great sitting besides PS2.
Xbox fucked up from 2008 and everyone knows why. Phil was assigned to head game studios 🤣

They getting exactly what they deserve. I want to see them hit more icebergs, they been needed to be humbled.

I hope Jim Ryan is at Sony corporate right now yelling at the top of his lungs “no day and date, EVER, period, it will destroy our business, look at xbox!”

So the great age of Xbox lasted 2-3 years? PS3 released in 2006 and by 2008 Xbox was already fucking things up? Games like Final Fantasy XII were still skipping Xbox during that time and PS2 was still getting games like God of War 2.

I didn't say Xbox was always shit, just that it was always inferior and it got worse over time. PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 and PS5. PlayStation was always, by far, the best choice for each of those generation (including Nintendo by the way).
