I didn’t realize Xbox is doing worse in Japan as well.
I believe they will cross 3 million something that doesn’t happen since PS2 days.So they should be able to do around 2.7 million PS5 or so this year?
I don't see them managing to sell another 1 million PS5 between now and December honestly.I believe they will cross 3 million something that doesn’t happen since PS2 days.
Don’t know where you’ve been hiding in order to avoid the information, but digital is huge in Japan for PlayStation, so boxed software sales really only serve to show how Nintendo and ultra-mainstream games are doing. All these console sales but barely any software sales. Do Japenese people just buy the PS5 to look pretty on the shelf? Like seriously.
The difference is that now over 70% of PS sales are digital unlike in the FFXV days, and that the PS4 install base was higher when FFXV released than the PS5 is today.Week 10
FFXV - 938,468
FFXVI - 414,216
Over 70% of PS5 sales are digital, which means aren't included in these numbers. All these console sales but barely any software sales. Do Japenese people just buy the PS5 to look pretty on the shelf? Like seriously.
Not every game is going to have that ratio in Japan; for example, in the UK, where digital sales are higher than in Japan, FFXVI only had 56% digital and 44% physical. It's logical to assume the digital ratio for FFXVI in Japan to be lower than in the UK, so that 70% isn't happening in Japan. The difference is that now over 70% of PS sales are digital unlike in the FFXV days, and that the PS4 install base was higher when FFXV released than the PS5 is today.
As I remember "over 70%" was the worldwide average for PS5 games during the last quarter according to Sony. Some games may have more, some may have less.
Huge titles with mainstream marketing like FF will always have a lower digital split due to the amount of casual purchasers who are unaware of 90% of games still buying physical when they go to the local store for a game. Not every game is going to have that ratio in Japan; for example, in the UK, where digital sales are higher than in Japan, FFXVI only had 56% digital and 44% physical.
