The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake is dead and Sony has cut ties with the project as no studio is working on the game anymore. At least, that’s what Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb had to say on Friday morning during his Game Mess Mornings show.

I just want to clear it up, this game is not being worked on right now,

Grubb said around the 57-minute mark.

Just full stop. This game is not being worked on in any way, at any studio.”

Originally announced back in 2021, the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake has been through development turmoil from the start.

It was first in development by Aspyr Media before Embracer Group shifted the game over to Saber Interactive in August 2022.

Where it’s at.
We would need someone other than Grubbhub to confirm this before I believe it. The only thing Jefferson Grubbhub can be that confident in is that his hourly meal is being prepped for delivery as we speak.
With his track record of shilling for MS, I wouldn't put it past him to spread FUD about a PlayStation exclusive.

Who has the ability to update the existing PC version? EA? They wouldn't have to much to make the original game nicely playable on modern machines. Most of the work was already done on the Xbox version.

Sony should have taken the game in-house. But the game was doomed from the start..

Reading about this on reddit and seeing the comments remind me how many Xbox fanboys are on that place. There are so many people wanting Xbox to somehow swoop in for this game or shitting on PlayStation/shoehorning in Xbox cheerleading for any reason they can come up with.
Must've been specifically targeted by Xbox as part of their astroturf campaign. It doesn't line up with the amount of actual Xbox fans in the wild, which is about 1 for every 10 PS fans.

If the role was reversed and it was Xbox instead of PlayStation partnering up for an exclusive KOTOR remake under Aspyr and under the same circumstances that the development was under going, Xbox would have let Aspyr continue on with whatever mess their game was going to be. It would be Redfall like in terms of quality control.

Must be, because for a general gaming subreddit, Gamingleaksandrumors is absolutely swarming with Xbox fanboys and people that hate PlayStation / think it sucks in general.

Sad but, with everything else that has come out about it, almost certainly true regardless of whether or not Jeff has a real source. The game was dead as soon as Sony (or Disney/Lucas Arts or whoever) started failing the Aspyr team's milestones, it just took a year of legal wrangling to be official.

Yeah the gaming leaks and rumors subreddit is filled with astroturfers, it was very apparent during the entirety of the ABK acquisition as you'd get dogpiled and downvoted into double digits almost immediately if you even dared to question the acquisition.
