The Xbox Next is going to be a very different gaming device compared to its predecessors, according to rumors circulating online.

According to Windows Central's Jez Corden, Microsoft's next-generation console will likely be a reference device with a heavy Windows slant for manufacturers to make their own devices, like the Surface Pro 11 is a reference device for AI PCs. This would be a huge departure from the previous Xbox consoles, as it would essentially make it a PC that could potentially run Steam games as well, and thus even the former PlayStation exclusives available on Valve's digital store like Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut and God of War.

They’re gonna take a swing at the steam machine. Well, that really didn’t work for Valve either until steam deck so…. And that’s like a moderate success at best if not just a novelty.

RIP Xbox. That og console was great but ms is such an evil trash company that meh… good riddance.

If valve came out with another steam box I would buy it. But Xbox, the name is poison.

Just drop the hardware Nadella, it's dead on arrival.

Seriously, some of you here might have a better understanding of this. What's the point of making more hardware, regardless of what it is? Who would it be for? PC players won't care for it and console players will see it as more of a PC, which again they won't care for it.

It's the Steambox all over again. A device for no one because it's neither here nor there.

Because they can still nickel and dime those same 20-25 million people. Phil Spencer said that in the interview when they said they were bringing other games to PS.

“We can find new ways to get money from the existing playerbase or we can release on more consoles”

But in this case it’s not an either or, they are going to do booth.

The console itself could be more limited thsn we think. Maybe it's just a Cloud Only device, sold for few bucks.

I wonder what the price is going to move too, 700-1000 pound Xboxes.
