Konami was overworking and shorting their employees even in the 1990s/early 2000s. With their new "creators first" initiative, hopefully this toxic work culture gets phased out.

No. They moved away their main business focus from a business that wasn't profitable for them (AAA games) in other than in their football game to other ones that were more profitable and way less risky for them (smaller console projects, mobile, arcade, pachinko etc).

After some years they highly improved they recovered their finantials, which are basically better than ever, and now started to bet again in one of ther AAA IPs: Silent Hill, while also making a Metal Gear movie and are rumored to have a Metal Gear related remake in the works.

While health issues are the prime reason for committing suicide among Japanese, existential worries and problems at work are major factors that can also trigger self-harming behavior. For example, suicide numbers peaked in 2009, when the country experienced its worst recession since World War II. More recently, the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the Japanese economy have coincided with a renewed increase in suicide rates, initially driven by rising suicide numbers among women.
