Out of what I have played this year, yes!
However, I still have to play and complete BG3 and Spider-man 2 and I'd also like to fit in Armored Core 6 to make a more well informed decision.
It is a fantastic game that deserves to be in the GOTY conversation though.

No. Its between BG3 or TOTK. My money is on BG3. BG3 clears everything
It is better than 13 and 15. Still has many shortcomings though.
I really want FF16 to win, not only is it the GOTY but it would also piss off all the super obsessed haters like @ethomaz @Vertigo . It’s weird how emotionally invested people are in seeing this game be a massive failure.
But sadly I don’t think it will win, the non stop FUD around it due to it being a timed PS5 exclusive is working against it.
With that being said, I think BG3 is a shoe in to win. Universally praised unorthodox game like It Takes Two. And it deserves it, BG3 is my #2 favorite game after FF16.

Not a chance. Game is mid at best. No dungeons. No rpg mechanics. Worst quest design in a major rpg like ever. Braindead easy. Junk story and cardboard characters. After Bahamut game became a painful boring pos.

I don't think theirs anything really unorthodox about BG3. It's just a big budget CRPG. Its what a CRPG would look like if it had a Triple A budget.

That’s part of what makes it unorthodox, as well as how much it resonates for people who’ve never been into these types of games. It’s my first game of its kind and I love it.
Definitely one of the best releases of the year so far resident evil 4 remake gets my vote though because I'm a huge resident evil fan

i guess? I've played loads of crpgs. 9/10 crpgs are made by double A studios or indie studios. So they don't have the budget necessary.
I'm different when it comes to hyped games. If its a genre im not really into, i wont play it or touch it at all. Like Elden Ring. I hate souls games. Tried playing Dark Souls Remastered and Dark souls 3. Just too boring, way too combat focus. Elden Ring was praised too the moon. Still didn't touch it because i don't like those type of games. Same story with Hi Fi Rush. I'm not a hype beast

FF16 definitely has the best music of any game this year. BG3 felt really weak after playing it. Beware of watching the vid since contains spoilers, but this song/fight was great:
