I hope so. At the same time I have a sinking feeling that Sony corporate is trying to have the game stuffed full of battlepasses and other bullshit. I pray that I'm wrong
It will probably be there attempt at Apex/ GTA5/Fornite etc with different genres.
They are still gonna make single player games and the team moving onto the single player project shows they are still paying attention to that side of games. There might be 2 single player games and this is the 2nd they are going into full production with

Falacy. You don't move team from gaas game. People coping so hard.
Factions are dead. Just move on.
It's most likely dead or rebooted to waste even more time, years of some of the best devs in the business spent in exchange for absolutely nothing.

GaaS strategy so far:
- Destruction AllStarts
- MLB on XBox / Day 1 on Gamepass
- Billions spent on Bungie for them to anounce a new GaaS game for Xbox.
- Naughty Dog wasting years on this with nothing to show and no other game to announce.
- Leaked Horizon GaaS that is the most disgusting game I've ever seen.
- Media Molecule failing to find a sustainable model for Dreams, resulting in the founders leaving the studio.
- Deviation project canceled.
- Bend talking about their next game including multiplayer.
- PlayStation Studios GaaS being revealed as PC/PS5 games.

The best case scenario is that it was determined that the game doesn't have enough psychological gimmicks to keep people paying for battlepasses and they're just going to tidy up what they have and release it as a standalone game

He might be talking about the other project. If Sony moved the team to work on it. Then, they are going full production mode. Hence, that project is probably what's smelling good and that's why Sony wants to put all force in it.
Yes! I remember a Naughty Dog developer or maybe it was Neil? I don't remember saying their next IP is their best game yet but who knows

And let me just chime in. Uncharted 3 Multiplayer is the GOAT Naughty Dog multiplayer. It was basically a condensed version of Fortnite but with better mechanics.

The original Playstation GaaS that got over 2 years of support, Map Packs, Co-Op expansions + Additional Co-op story modes that allowed us to play Eddie.

Gave us I think 18 free Block Mesh Maps, Character Creations, taunts, over 300+ MTX aesthetics, weapon modding, custom lobbies where we could make up our game modes , playstation cross characters and then made it a stand alone F2P game.

Naught Dog created the the GaaS blueprint before many and somehow they and Sony fumbled.

Right. Well the original scope of the game seems to be shelved it seems.
It got delayed to make some improvements, that's all.

I doubt Bungie is evaluating mt potential. Bungie is not succesful with their mts. And that’s why you see more cross promotion efforts now. Their on-going revenue comes from selling $100 of new content a year.
Here you have the Sony plan to integrate Bungie.

In the part of the right you have, now a year after the acquisition, the fully established Live Service operations model, that explain where they integrated Bungie expertise into the 'SIE Live Service Center of Excellence' with the one from PS Studios and SIE Publishing.

It explains the 4 areas that this SIE Center of Excellence for GaaS (not only Bungie, includes SIE Publishing + PS Studios + Bungie) evaluates:
  1. "Design / Concept Reviews"
  2. "Pre-Production Pipeline Reviews"
  3. "Launch Readiness & Post-Launch Reviews"
  4. "Monetization & Data Reviews"
Pretty likely recently they fully integrated Bungie and made the reviews for the 12 projects in development (some of them already released, currently in post-launch) and the ones delayed or partly rebooted had to do with the point 3.

Naughty Dog said it got delayed and that they continue working on it. It isn't cancelled. They'll make some changes and improvements, which means some people won't be needed there while they design and prepare the production of the new stuff, so they will be moved at least temporally to other places.

I assume some people did a good job and will be needed later, so they will go back. Some other ones probably did a bad job and the changes were their fault, so in that case maybe won't go back.

This is either going to be cancelled or be released in the same state as Redfall
I can see some level of scaling back (which we would never know as they made no feature list public) or cancelled... But anything close to redfall level is a wet dream for Xbox and it will not happen (this is not like Sony had bought cdpr or something).

So let me ask you? How do you and others within Sony feel about this shift into GaaS? Is everyone on-board or is it being forced upon everyone? How's morale within the overall playstation division?
Cannot comment on that but just to point out that we had previously a big push where everything was going into free to play games during the PS4, even Sony San Diego did a free to play game etc.

It’s a phase!

I hope you guys put some gameplay variety into your games instead of just checklists of what's popular. I'm playing Sakuna: of rice and ruin right now and the gameplay mechanics are just so innovative and fresh... when I play something like Horizon forbidden west it's like someone asked Alexa what the elements of an action RPG are and then they picked the most popular ones and stuck them in and put a bunch of UI polish on it. Ya'll gotta be innovative to push the industry forward, not just be flashy

hohoken was the most creative game recently released on PlayStation in the last generation! Everyone laughed and said it wasn’t a game!

So popular sells, but from all the big 3, we try new things the most, correct?

imo the key is balance, the innovative parts is the spice on top of the popular stuff to make the game stand out
