I'm thinking about buying a PS3 again, wasn't aware PSN still worked.
almost 2 million PS3's still active monthly? they better keep that PS Store open

Suprised there are still 1.3 million active users on ps3
I was still holding on for ports one day but Sony just sucks and can't bother doing even the bare minimum.

OG Demon Souls alone is enough for me to keep a PS3. The Nostalgia factor is real for me with tht one. Also gages like Spiry Champions with camera and move.
Have to install games manually after downloading, to unbubble them. Get stuck in the installation screen until it finishes. If it's still like that, I weep for PS3 users

Also theres still 1.9 million users playing on ps3
GTA VI hopefully will pull majority of those ps4 player into ps5

This was back in February where the number of ps5s in consumer hands was in the high 30 million.
And Sony have done a lot to get people to move onto ps5s with the massive sales.
Yeah they had virtually everyone with PS5s regularly using their system, that's a very good statistic.
Thing is PS5 has a lot of room to grow both for install base and MAU; the same can't really be said for Xbox. They converted a lot of what console-first audience from XBO remained, early in the first two years of Xbox Series, and for all of 2023 they've been struggling to move any large volume of systems. I'd almost hate to see the MAU for Xbox Series in isolation..

No, means that a user was active in a month (let's say March) but didn't login to the PSN server, so they couldn't count the MAU during that month when he/she was active, but he logged later in other month (let's say June). So even with some delay they could detect and count that MAU for March.

Most of this generation has been cross gen games, ps4 users have had no real reason to upgrade

There's alot of ppl still unable to afford new consoles. I have friends in like Peru tht aren't well off and thy play their PS4s everyday.70 million active users on ps4 and 37 million active users on ps5
