Fuck discussing what we already know is gonna be there (helldivers 2, Spider-man, God of War ragnarok, PSVR2, etc) let’s discuss ways in which you think sony will want to go above and beyond to impress us. We know basically everything that sony has planned which is not much, theres a total of 3 first party games announced at the moment. God of War Ragnarok, Spider-Man 2, and Horizon Call of The Mountain.

Which means outside of a couple stragglers like Little Devil Inside, and Goodbye Volcano High, damn near everything Sony announced in 2020 has come out and they officially have a clean slate at this point.

Playstation 5 Phase 1 is officially over November 9th, 2022.

What are some upcoming games, whether 1st party, VR, 3rd party exclusive, indie, etc. Do you see Sony announcing to really get people hype for Phase 2? What would be the big crowd pleasers that feel somewhat realistic maybe not-so realistic? What BOMBS do you think Sony has up their sleeves? Santa Monica, Suckerpunch, Pixelopus, London Studio, Bluepoint, Housemarque, Firesprite, Haven, Guerrilla, Firewalk, Naughty Dog, Media Molecule, Bend, and XDev have not announced their new projects as of yet, thats a lot of possibility even with 3rd party games.

My guess, if you want to rock some booties, announce bloodborne remaster, followed by a Bloodborne sequel directed or produced by Miyazaki with Bluepoint development.kind of like they did with Japan Studios.

We had two years between the SotC Remake and Demon's Souls remake, I find it surprising that the next Bluepoint game hasn't been announced yet.

I also find it pretty weird that Sony didn't bother finding a studio to take over the Uncharted IP.

I think the best bet is just to keep expanding naughty dog and form a dedicated uncharted team. I don’t really see another studio being able to do it better than Naughty Dog. Sean Escayg is free now with Part 1 done.

We don’t want a 343 situation with uncharted

Maybe a really small team inside ND working with another studio on an Uncharted game with a studio like Ready at Dawn would be perfect.

What a missed opportunity it was Sony not buying Crystal Dynamics, with the guidance of ND I think they would be able to get it right this time. They could have introduced a new Lara in the Uncharted universe to reboot her series, one of the best game crossovers I can think off.

Way better than having ND stuck with the series forever.

I think its good to just let everyone move on from Uncharted for the time being, we’ve had 7 games. They can make a new series with the same bombastic set pieces and dialogue.

The only thing truly unique to uncharted is the lite platforming. Give me uncharted in space

That just ain't happening, you don't move on from a series that sells so well.

Uncharted in Space? Come one, give me Uncharted in the 16th century.

I have a feeling any new game Naughty Dog puts out will do uncharted numbers. Playstation at this point is the IP to me, Naughty Dog games are a known quantity, they put out a state of the art AAA next gen game it will do big numbers.

If anything more uncharted only has the risks of the franchise deteriorating. It hasn’t even been that long since the last game (5 years)

I want a signicant break from the last of us and uncharted after factions is out.

All I know is I want something completely fresh. I think this is something Sony has done pretty well over past generations and are starting to
straggle just a tiny bit in comparison to what they used to do.

Naughty Dog hasn't had a new IP since PS3? I don't think they've ever gone an entire generation without a new IP before that have they? That seems like a problem.

I gotta disagree here. The draw isn't the series necessarily, it's the studio and craftsmanship that goes into making the games. They tend to be top notch. A new series will draw the players if the game looks good based on pedigree alone. And a NEW series will bolster the PS way more than an Uncharted 5 (groan).

Also remember. Creative people like to do creative things. They tend to have a lot of ideas. I can't think of many people that want to make one game series their entire entire career when they probably have idea for many many possible games. Let them be creative and create something new.

Bottom line, I don't have hopes or expectations for Sony showcases beyond just make it fresh, and make it good.

That's pretty much what I want from everyone though. 🤷‍♂️

That is a great idea! And yes, I agree - that would have been awesome.

I mostly agree but to be fair its only been a little over 1.5 years since launch and we already got two new IP’s from sonys first party (Destruction all Stars, Returnal) they don’t always hit but the efforts still there to create new IP. You can probably throw sackboy in there as well

Hermen Hulst said they had 26+ games in production atm and that half of them were new IP so we know they are coming. I’m on the same train of thought though, i want to see some new stuff, not even just IP but new gameplay type mechanics.

Thats why people laugh when i say it but i am looking forward to sonys less noteworthy studios as they aren’t really obligated to follow any sort of trend for success. Studios like Pixelopus, Team Asobi, London, Haven, Firewalk, Firesprite…etc

Bring on the new class

The Showcase might not be as crazy as you hope.

Probably will be shown:
Spiderman 2
FFXVI
Ragnarok
1 or 2 Live service games from Haven/Firewalk/Guerrilla
Hogwarts
Destiny and Bungie content - could see some time for expansion / roadmap / expanded universe stuff

Possible but less likely
Wolverine
Bluepoint next game
Team Asobi next game
MediaMolecule next game
Death Stranding 2
Sony Bend new IP - maybe a teaser
Pixelopus game (Sly Cooper?)

Unlikely:
TLOU Online - will be shown next year
Cory Barlog new IP - Unlikely before Ragnarok
Naughty Dog new IP - Unlikely before TLOU Online is revealed
Tsushima 2 - too early
New From Soft collab - I don't think there is even a rumour but they usually do one a gen

Bungie have their own showcase next week

If the rest of the showcase is that first section and a couple things from the second i’d be highly satisfied. They will most likely have some new 3rd party stuff though
