Do they say anything about more acquisitions or investments in regards to gaming?

expecting spending on acquisitions to go down, which should help with profitability next quarter and beyond:

In addition, our FY2023 and FY2024 financials will include costs associated with past acquisitions. The decline in
these costs is expected to boost our profits going forward. Taking all these factors into consideration, we intend to work to achieve a new profit record in the PS5 generation.

They should have said that before. All the headlines were already written about Sony being doomed with low margins when it was the cost of Bungie 🤦‍♂️

So: "We're not spending much to make it seem like we're more profitable than we really are." Bummer.

They've acquired and shut down studios with no new game in the interim. there's 4 new acquisitions who haven't released anything yet. none of their prestige studios have a game announced. adding more studios to the mix is not the solution imo. the insomniac leaks indicated that one more team might be shut down. they've gotta get some damn games out ffs.

I agree my guess is MM, which would be a bummer. They've conceivably had enough time to make a game since Dreams tho. If they were getting shut down, would it drag out this long?

JFC. All of the doom and gloom could have literally been avoided if this was outright mentioned. C'mon, Sony, y'all gotta be more clear about how the M&A costs impact the profits because we know SIE are accounting for them directly.

As usual, a critical piece of information not easily clarified allowed a bunch of rather dumb narratives to take hold by the usual suspects. Sigh.

No. It's the link to their IR page, where they post every quarter their results and Q&A session. Nothing new there after they posted their quarterly reports the other day.

In May they'll show the report for the current fiscal year and will announce their strategy for their new fiscal year, which also is the first one of a 3 year mid term plan.

They'll present then a budget and strategy for strategical investments and acquisitions for that 3 years period.

The last thing they said around a year ago was that in short term they were going to skip acquisitions and instead resume them in the mid to long term (meaning, pretty likely at least 3-5 years in the future, maybe a year or two from now) due to market conditions.

In recent years they also had lower than usual profitability because of costs relateds to acquisitions and growing their existing teams. Totoki said these costs will ease out next FY. So pretty likely they'll wait also to make these costs go out to don't fuck too much their profits.

Around a couple of years or so in the future they'll sell 80% of their banks division, getting a lot of cash they'll use mostly in acquisitions for entertainment, so in a good part SIE.

Not true, they only "studio" (a 12 people team that didn't have their own office) they shut down in recent years has been Pixel Opus.

there's 4 new acquisitions who haven't released anything yet.
Haven and Firewalk didn't release any game because games aren't made in 3 months, they need time to be released. But they are top tier veterans with the best pedigree, they will deliver.

I have no idea who are supposed to be the other two.

none of their prestige studios have a game announced.
Lies, we officialy know what some of them are working on. And the other ones just released a game so obviously still haven't annonced the next one because AAA aren't made in 3 months.

adding more studios to the mix is not the solution imo.
There's not solution needed, they are perfectly fine.

the insomniac leaks indicated that one more team might be shut down. they've gotta get some damn games out ffs.
Lies.

It was a meeting minutes note mentioned that they greenlighted a new game, and were told to move resources Insomniac had working in games to be released beyond 2027 to games being released in 2027 or before.

Some people misunderstood what was said there. The text didn't say anything about shutting down anything.

There is absolutely nothing that leads to thing that Sony will shut down any studio.

Media Molecule is a relatively small studio with many junior talent, it's so cheap to main it and to shut it down wouldn't save almost money. On top of that, all their games have been profitable and they won a shit ton awards and have been well received.

So no, even if they would want to shut down something very likely wouldn't shut down Media Molecule.

No, they're just talking about costs associated with buying Bungie will go down. Their actual acquisition plans won't be revealed until their fy report in April.
