Today, EA announced a major company shake-up that will result in roughly 670 individuals, or 5% of its workforce, losing their jobs. As a part of that same reorganization, a Star Wars FPS in-development at Respawn is being canceled.

A few years ago it made financial sense to start projects, now it doesn't make any financial sense to finish them. Hard to blame the video game industry for this when pretty much every industry has been screwed thanks to QE measures.

Partially right in that they misjudged the market, but who didn't? You're Australian aren't you? Even RBA economists completely misjudged the market too, so hard to say it's corporate greed.

The RBA would constantly cla wage growth was whats causing inflation, but we all knew that was bullshvt.

That sucks. Was hoping that if one of the licensed games was going to be cancelled that it would have been the Black Panther game since im the least interested in it compared to Jedi 3, Iron Man and Respawn's Mando FPS. Oh well.

Yeah the RBA was cooked go check their wage forecasts and they're categorically wrong every time. Not a surprise that QE effects are inflation adjusted wages falling to 2008 levels while housing near record highs. The economies are run by idiots.

• Faceless protagonist
• Man-for-hire story
• Upgradable armor / weapons
• Acquire new gear and abilities as you progress
• Travel to different planets for different missions
• Third party shooter or fps
• Whole Star Wars universe to pick enemy types and factions from

It’s being reported that EA wants to leverage orignal IP and move away from licensing from Disney. Black Panther and Iron Man are still in development however so kinda hypocritical but moving forward etc…

I generally approve of this direction. Much rather see original IP. But I’m sure many would’ve been excited about a respawn made Mandolorian game considering how their Jedi games are received.
