Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Metacritic score blows past Starfield as one of 2023's highest rated games

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 has become one of the highest-rated games on Metacritic

The highly anticipated Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is almost upon us. The reviews dropped yesterday and the game instantly swung into Metacritics highest-rated games of the year, so far.


Millions of players have been waiting on Insomniac's new Spider-Man adventure. Hopes were high as every trailer showed something that got us more excited. This was Insomniac's chance to extend their universe further while incorporating one of the most famous Spidey stories of all-time. Thankfully, the game seems to have lived up to its hype, hitting a score of 91 (Universal Acclaim) on Metacritic.


User reviews are still a few days away as the game hasn't released worldwide yet, but holding a critic score of 91 at this point can only mean good things. The Spidey sequel's rating is based on 122 critic reviews and all of them a unanimous in praising everything from the story to the fast loading times that make New York feel seamless.
From our own 9/10 review Ewan said this "This is an amazing fantasy come to life and realised like never before. Insomniac Games has crafted yet another heartfelt Spider-Man story bursting with twists, turns, and show-stopping spectacle."

Much of the industry who have played the title are eager for everyone to get their hands on the game. Among the praise there are a lot of highlights, "Insomniac mastered the PS5 technology" and "Spider-Man 2 is a towering achievement in every metric" or "Incredibly fun to play, fast-paced and full of heart."

There are a few days left to wait until we can all start web-swinging through New York and experiencing "An excellent story is strung together by a series of stunning setpieces and boss battles that remind us Insomniac Games really is best-in-class when it comes to the PlayStation 5."

I still remember the article I think it was Forbes that said starfield was going to leave playstation in its glittering space dust & here we are playstation is the one with a banger this year ... I've seen Xbox people adding the Activision published spider-man games to their gamepass lists but they've been delisted to start re-selling / streaming them they'd have to get permission from Disney & I'd imagine Sony to some extent

Starfield should be nominated and win just for the laughs

Maybe there are a lot of fear or hope in both sides.

But anybody that saw what it was presented all these years knows Spider-man 2 was fine and should score high.
While Starfield was not fine and should score lower.

I had predicted Spiden-man 2 to socre 89.
Starfield to score 85.

So drastic changes should be made to Starfield from what they showed to score higher than Spider-man 2.
Or Spider-man be a catastrophe in many levels that the original wasn't.

It was in my convos lol I told ppl don't sleep on it but yes PS fans were generally subdued.

If you consider the fact that Xbox exclusives usually have inflated scores by 5-10 while PlayStation esclusives are scrutinized more by general media outlets AND have Xbox pages lowering the score on purpose, the gap between Starfailed and Nicheman 2 in scores is even greater.

BG3 is really the true GOTY game. It's story is unprecedented and the game flow, characters, combat, and story-telling is just "different" this time around. It's so unique compared to what has been winning GOTY these years, it better win it.

I agree that bg3 should win and probably will because how original and fresh it is. But that doesn't take away what other games have done
