MC is more reliable than Famitsu… that was true before and it is true today. But I think maybe both are not accurate in this case… maybe something in the middle.
In any case it means nothing… it is like 50k units in over 2 years of tracking.
PS5 sales seems to be a bit lower on MC too.

RTing a tweet and thanking them for the praise that came with those numbers is not the same as endorsing or "reporting" numbers though. There is so much wiggle room for them to be able to say "lol we never said those were accurate" while still basking in the free PR. MS has a tendency to do that.
They're also clearly not above lying or twisting the truth, as has been seen recently.

This makes sense. There was no way to explain these exponentially higher Xbox sales with less games than they’ve ever had other than scalpers selling them to China or something. I doubt this will even make headlines anywhere but I’m sure Japanese publishers see these numbers and know what’s really going on.
And yet, because Media Create is a paid source, it has people to answer to. So there are consequences for being wrong. Which does not exist for Famitsu.
But you choose to completely dismiss the one that's tracking numbers as part of its actual business because you don't like it.

- xbox console sales matter, but one should only believe the highest numbers for xbox.
Actually the PS5 #s look about what have been stated before. A bit higher in fact, tho these numbers probably include the recent few weeks. Last I remember it was roughly 1.6 million PS5 to ~ 220K Xbox Series.
I thought Famitsu was generally reliable? Maybe they were using sold-in for their Xbox numbers? I know they don't track Amazon Japan so that's something else to keep in mind.
Anyway, I guess this would just reinforce the Ampere and CESA numbers in a way, the former also cutting down Xbox Series numbers to something more realistic and accurate, if they're tracking actual sold-through figures. If the MC numbers for Xbox Series are true, it's quite lower in reality than what's been reported before, but they're still doing better in the territory compared to XBO.
It could make them catching 360's Japanese numbers much harder if not impossible, however.

With Sony ramping up production for PS5 and are going to ship over 18M this year, Xbox is pretty much for done for this generation trying to gain marketshare. Sony’s increased chip production is not going to stop.
I feel sorry for Bethesda. Starfield would have been amazing on the largest and best platform and have all the true next generation features like Dualsense.
