This would've been ridiculous if Phil Spencer was the one getting a pay rise.
Satia Nadella probably has 0 KPIs directly related to the gaming division. They're all related to business and revenue growth of which gaming is probably less than 10%. The board and investors don't decide his bonus overnight. This was probably defined late last year, and the only reason he's getting this bonus is because the corresponding KPIs were met.
Besides, laying off game developers was always going to be necessary the moment the global revenue growth in gaming was found to not even keep up with inflation, meaning the market actually shrunk. It's not about making more or less money for Microsoft, it's about business sustainability.
Being angry at stuff like this is nonsense.
