Funny thing is, people keep attributing SEGA's downfall on the hardware space to Playstation, but the company that benefited the most was... Xbox. They filled the space left by the Dreamcast. And check who Peter Moore was and where he landed after SEGA discontinued the Dreamcast.

And I still think SEGA killed SEGA.
No, it was sonys fault that sega made a console that was a pain in the ass to program for, didn't do 3d well, 100 dollars more expensive and a botched us launch. That's why it's okay for Xbox to buy Activision. - gaf logic.

They're all businesses, they all want more market reach, they all want more money, they all do shady things... Why expend this amount of energy on a universal reality for all companies because one you don't like is trying to finalize a business deal while another you do like is trying to cock block it.

Detach, move on.

People can post their own opinion, especially when backed in an extensively researched manner. I can assure you, OP has not spent nearly as much energy digging up past Microsoft history for this thread as you do defending them in multiple threads.
Posters can be ignored, if that improves your personal experience.

Detach, move on.

Please only naive idiots don't know that Microsoft has done everything from astroturfing, paying ppl off to talk highly of them via game rewards, paying reviewers to both up their scores and lower the competition scores, to even lying about the severity of rrod for months until taken to court. They definitely have paid ninjas lol. Alot of companies do this but Microsoft is notorious.

Sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings with the truth.

Just say executive.

But I only quickly looked at the thread; it said he had just joined and then called someone a loser. Which isn't astroturfing lol

But if he was randomly in there defending Xbox or something than yeah I guess... typically "astroturfing" you wouldn't post under your own name / easily identifiable it'd be some random string of characters.

Hilarious and moronic either way.

edit: Nah that isn't astroturfing.. the guy defending himself, under his real name... that's just a bold moron.

Sega definitely killed Sega. There were so many business mistakes they made during the transition from Genesis/MegaDrive to Saturn, even from Saturn to Dreamcast (particularly in Japan), not to mention opportunities they passed up on (Silicon Graphics tech in Saturn, partnering with Sony on a 5th-gen console, GTA3 exclusivity, acquiring Lobotomy Software and Core Design (both of whom worked very closely with Sega before affiliating with Sony)).

It's simply fascinating.

And don't forget, there was a leaker on GAF who mentioned how MS was courting third party partners of SEGA, shortly before the Dreamcast was killed off by Peter Moore.
Yeah, the same Peter Moore who would later on join MS, and then EA.

Goes even deeper than that; Sega executives shortly after shutting down Dreamcast, wanted Dreamcast BC in the OG Xbox but it was Microsoft who rejected the idea.

Maybe that was due to technical difficulties, but it's amazing they didn't even consider a DC-compatible add-on for the OG Xbox at some point (or for the 360, though I guess by then priorities had shifted).

All of this. I love Saturn/Model 1 - 3 era Sega; IMO I think that's their peak as a platform holder WRT top-tier 1P/3P games across home and arcade (Dreamcast isn't too far off for me but it never got the level of AAA support the Saturn got). But it's also their worst period in terms of making sound business decisions.

Every good business decision was followed by five bad ones. It's a real good period to understand just to see what mistakes the current platform holders might be making and predicting what could happen if they continue (and how they can fix them) before it's too late.

He used his last name and messaged someone who specifically talked shit about him upon registering.

Not exactly inconspicuous.

Yes me calling an MS exec a moron is damage control. Astroturfing is just… different then that.

How relevant is some of this information considering the same people don’t even work for the company anymore?
This is how MS is run, a new coat of paint does not make them any nicer.

As a client you should see this. Their broken promises, especially since dr. Phil took over are countless, yet people keep listening.

Indeed, there is this concept of company culture, which means that people with certain attitudes and profiles are more likely to succeed within it, meaning that after Ballmer is gone, for example, his successor is very likely to carry business the same way.

As we see with the "let us compete" two-faced hypocritical rhetoric.

Their ideologies and aggressive ways are systemic. They are a mega big corporation and are very predatory in what they do. This will not change no matter who is in charge, this is not a grassroot movement nor ever will be lol
