unless you're a garbage company that makes garbage games, microsoft loves funding those. match made in heaven
Console war jokes aside, there's no real up side for a dev. As much as Xbox fans harp on about value, no one actually appreciates games they got for "free", it's basic human psychology. And because of that, games are judged on a curve because they're on a service, so devs don't actually know how good/bad their work is received. And the biggest marker of success is sales, which they also sacrifice by working with Xbox. Not to mention the bonuses they receive when games hit certain sales goals. Instead, if you want to be rewarded, you're forced to compete with 400 other games on the service for "engagement", even if that's not what your game aims to do. Being attached with a failing console is the worst marketing ever as seen by P5 Tactica recent flop. And lastly you're owned by a trillion dollar company that can spend 80 billion on acquisitions but still refuses to even offer proper full time work or benefits for their employees. You're signing your staff up to become a rotating door of contract employees coming in and out.
This game looks so sick... Loved Ori, will support these great devs
