At least they're bringing the series back. The remake was excellent and I hope it sold well. The series deserves better.

There was no AI buddy in 3. Which makes things ever stranger, as he's not there during gameplay but will appear in cutscenes.
That makes no sense, wasn't he holding doors open and shit? Why even have him in the story at all then?

Nope, doesn't exist during gameplay at all if you're playing alone. It's why you miss out on a lot of his story if you're playing alone as there are doors that require 2 players to open. He just appears where required and is gone after but for some reason can't help you access these co-op doors. His whole character arc is tied to co-op.

The biggest issue with that is that the game was made for 2 players. The amount of enemies takes into account that you're playing with someone. If you're alone, it's a clusterduck.

A shame really. The game had an excellent opening. You're in space, creepy atmosphere, few enemies and you get to explore a few ships and move freely between them. Then you get to the planet and that atmosphere is gone, there's too many enemies to create any tension and side missions aren't as interesting.

It's not great. I mean it looks great but the mechanics are lame
Mechanics are lame. You hold on to the joystick in either direction and he automatically dodges. Pretty weak.

Despite this though, using the guns feels good. You can take off any limb. Which is bad-ass.
