Amy Hennig's game is set to feature both Captain America and Black Panther.

Eurogamer is also reporting the leak:

Ahead of its official unveiling at tomorrow's Disney & Marvel Games Showcase, new rumours have emerged surrounding Skydance Media and Amy Hennig's upcoming Marvel title.

Announced last October, few official details have so-far been shared on the project beyond the fact it'll be a "narrative-driven, blockbuster action-adventure" set in the Marvel universe.

However, Marvel rumour collator MCU Status is now reporting that Hennig's game takes place during World War 2, and will see Captain America and Black Panther taking on the forces of Hydra. Eurogamer understands this to be correct.

This sounds really good and interesting. Just hoping they have some gameplay to showcase today.

Black Panther doesn't interest me in the slightest as a videogame character but a Captain America game could be alright

The new Marvel game from Amy Hennig's Skydance New Media division is taking a different approach to the Marvel Universe, teasing a game set in World War 2-era Paris starring Captain America and Black Panther.

In a moody, cinematic trailer set to Vera Lynn's 'We'll Meet Again' it's not until the end we see Captain America's iconic shield and a brief glimpse of Cap and Black Panther facing off. The words 'King,' 'Captain,' 'Soldier,' 'Spy,' then flash across the screen before the trailer ends with a shadowy look of our heroes.

Check out the trailer below.

The teaser implies the game will take place across two locations, likely Paris and Wakanda, and star four heroes. While two of them will be Captain America and Black Panther, we also get a look at Howling Commandos member Gabriel Jones and Nanali, the leader of the Wakandan Spy Network.

Other than a few easter eggs (Hydra notebook?) Skydance Media looks to be keeping plot details under wraps.

Skydance New Media was founded in 2019 as Skydance's video game development studio. Under Hennig, Skydance New Media has already announced a Star Wars game in partnership with Lucasfilm Games, but it appears the team is now ready to add a Marvel title to the lineup.

You can check out interview with Hennig after the show and for more from today's D23 presentation, check out all the new games and announcements here. You can also take a look at the full D23 schedule for more.

Sounds like an up to four player co-op game of some sort. And no title for the game. Why even reveal it at this point? Oh well.

The CG teaser looks nice, but it's only that. It's also curious to see 3 black main protagonists teaming with the Captain America (the white one, not the current black one). Not common at all in a AAA game.

Having there Gabe Jones makes pretty likely that we may see Nick Fury (not sure if the white or the black one in this point) in the game.

Merged the duplicate thread, we can follow up on the announcement in here.

It seems to be a single player game where you play as the four characters at different parts of the game. Kind of similar to Avengers I guess or at least that's how it sounds to me.

Why is skin colour relevant?

Given this is taken from the comics, there are currently TWO Captain Americas. Steve and Sam are both repping the name.

Not sure why that matters though.

  1. Absolute crap show. Full of indies and mobile games.
  2. I've my doubt about Skydance Media game. Why not just make a Captain America or Black Panther game? We've seen in the past that these multi-character games are rarely good. Four characters, intertwining stories, four different gameplay mechanics: that's often too much. Just make one game with one character and make it deep instead of shallow (Spider-Man, Arkham, etc.)

I imagine its because Amy Hennig is coming off her cancelled Star Wars game she was making with Visceral, which was supposed to also be an ensemble story with an action pacing similar to what you see in movies such as Ocean's Eleven, where there are multiple characters who take on different roles within the team but are sometimes spread out within the setting(s) and are working towards pulling off a common goal.

Basically she wants to make a singleplayer narrative action/adventure heist game where there might be two or more set pieces happening simultaneously, bet it about scoundrels and bounty hunters in the Star Wars galaxy or a group of heroes facing the forces of Hydra in WWII.
