from recent EA earnings call

As Season 7 of Battlefield 2042 wraps up, one thing is clear; each season of the game has shown our team's unique ability to listen, learn, and draw inspiration from the community to deepen connection with the franchise. Players continue to be passionate about the Battlefield franchise, which has surpassed over 25 million players over the last 12 months. The community is energized by what our teams are doing and excited for what comes next.
The community is energized by what our teams are doing and excited for what comes next. This is not just one of our top priorities, it is also one of the most ambitious projects in our history. We have brought together the very best team coupled with the resources and technology they need to deliver an epic Battlefield experience. I am excited about what is to come next as we continue to make progress across our strategic priorities.

They say this every time.

Technically correct from a cost to produce perspective which is the best kind of correct.
The issue is that certain game design decisions are just baffling and the last few battlefields only got to be good products a year after launch. That's a lot of lost revenue because a few millions players avoid your game until you sell it for peanuts when they wouldn't otherwise.

Their incompetence has been a blessing for COD.

Yeah, CoD is pretty much its only enemy. Their yearly sales just fluctuate based on if the CoD is received well or not.

Isn't Vince Zampella behind this one?

Idk guys, i'd trust the man behind CoD4. MW2, Titanfall and Apex.

Just make another BF3/4. Easy. None of this specialist, no class, change weapons on the fly, call in vehicles BS.

I still yearn for them to go back to the basics of Battlefield 2 + Desert Combat mod (with some obvious modern-day, quality of life enhancements).
That is the one Battlefield game (except for the spinoffs) that I spent WHOLE Summers playing.

I just hope it's as stunning and brave as that world war 2 one.

Jokes aside, with the world + their dogs adopting Unreal Engine (meaning Frostbite isn't that important anymore), this might be DICE's last chance at proving EA they shouldn't get shut down.

Andrew Wilson has been weirdly patient with DICE so far, but I can't imagine them surviving a 3rd failure in a row.

Yeah, they'll have to change A LOT for this to be good. Get rid of operators and stick with classes for one.

Then make BF BF again. There's no destruction in BF anymore. Blow up a few walls here and there and that's it. You could level an entire map in BC2.

Get rid of all the "accessible" BS from 2042. Changing your gun on the fly is ridiculous and removes any and all strategy. Just pick a gun with a nice big scope and snipe away. Get into a building, switch to a smaller scope and add a suppressor and now you're equipped for close range, stealth combat. Screw that. Decide what you want to carry beforehand and stick to the advantages your loadout offers.

Remove calling in vehicles at your location. Instant tanks are not fun.

And COMPLETELY rebalance vehicles. This has been a major issue since BFV. back in the good old BF days, you could disable vehicles, making them require teamwork to operate. You needed someone to repair you. Especially true for air vehicles. Hitting a chopper with an RPG forced it to land and repair. Your actual controls were affected by damage, as the vehicle sways and turns on its own. These days you get a tank on a hill, snipe shit, then retreat back and wait for your health to go back. Air vehicles are next to impossible to take out. Hitting a chopper with an RPG does nothing. And even if you manage to get it to low health, it still flies perfectly, moves back a bit, automatically repairs and it's back.
