The thing is that even if they had those strong relationships would it matter when HW is so weak?
FOr example, in theory you can play the Witcher 3 on a Switch but is it a worthwhile experience? Does it show what the game is all about? Even the Xbox one experience is way better.

It wont have GTA6 which makes it the total opposite of a must own console.
GTA VI will come to PC after the PS5 version and there is an Xbox Version as well so it isn't even a PS5 exclusive to begin with.
Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, Smash Bros. and many other will make the Switch 2 a must own console.

Most people will never consider a handheld as a must own console and especially not at $400 or more.

Not to mention a handheld is a handheld, not a console. Switch is a very successful portable. But the successor might not be.
Switch is an interesting case… unique.

Nintendo had two markets:

Wii -> back to GameCube, N64 with Wii U
DS -> saw significant drop in sales with 3DS

There were not in a good position.
So they have the ideia to merge the two market hopping that the overlap was not big enough to allow them to grow.

They kinda was successful… why kinda? Because the overlap was indeed big… Wii + DS had what? 250 million units sold? They lose that.

But they where successful in stop the decline… they probably should have more decline after Wii U and DS but Switch hold pretty well.

It even did better in that regards… Switch not only stopped the decline… it build (or recovered) a little of Nintendo market.

I wish all luck to Switch 2 but I don’t think it will live to Switch name because Nintendo doesn’t have that ace to merge user bases anymore.

I feel like they will face another decline in user base.
And I’m day one buyers after I had kids.
