Pretty amazing how Nintendo continues to release games at a consistent output every year especially now that Switch is in its 7th & final years of support.

https://www.yahoo.com/tech/playstation-confirms-first-party-game-135755099.html

While PS is lucky to get 1-2 PS first party games & it looks more grim if it’s solely singleplayer. It doesn’t help that PS is focusing on PC & possibly Nintendo more in the future releasing more ports on PC then releasing exclusive games for its console.

Astro Bot (singleplayer) available on PS
Concord (gaas) available on PC day 1
Helldivers 2 (gaas) available on PC day 1
Lego Horizon (singleplayer) available on PC & Nintendo day 1

First of all, how they look like on a 0.4 GF system???

Coming from a Nintendo fan too, Im sure if Playstation stayed back 1.5/2 gens they could make plenty of games a year.

Nintendo hasnt made 1 game that would be too powerful for a Wii U lol. Its 2024.

Plus if you gonna include games like Luigi’s Mansion 2, Paper Mario remasters then you gotta include TLOU2 Remaster

Compare that to 2020 (PS4’s last year ) and its embarrassing. Ghost of Tsushima, TLOU2, Dreams, Demons Souls, Spiderman MM, Sackboy and some more

It's the weakest Switch year with the games released until now rated in the 70s.
For me it's year is saved by Brothership which we still need to hold off how it comes out the oven.

Comparing A quality children's games to AAA bangers on PS5.

Yeah, that's totally equal.

Switch is a handheld.

Nintendo got their ass handed to them so badly they quit making home consoles and home console games.

Nintendo fans are 1000 percent full of revisionist history bullshit.
It’s going to be funny when the PS6 is a hybrid handheld console like Nintendo & Steamdeck.

Switch is a console & you can argue Steamdeck aswell albeit a lil more PC like by being more open.

Hardware is moving to mobile handheld & PS is heading the same direction as Nintendo (which is smart) portal was just a safe bet to test the market using a PS handheld type device (which exceeded expectations)

Pure bullshit, this OP deserves to be instead in the "doom and gloom" thread instead of creating another thread.

Like every year Sony will have a bigger and more diverse catalog of first party releases than Nintendo in 2024, in this case also featuring more and better single player games. And with only a tiny portion of games that are refurbished ports/remasters or rehashed games as is the case of most of the Nintendo games of that tweet:

Sony 2024 new PS5 releases
  1. TLOU2 Remaster (*remaster)
  2. Helldivers 2
  3. MLB 24
  4. Stellar Blade
  5. Rise of the Ronin
  6. Destiny 2 The Final Shape (* big expansion)
  7. Concord
  8. Astro Bot
  9. Lego Horizon
  10. Until Dawn (*changed/expanded remake)
  11. Convallaria
  12. Lost Soul Aside
On top of that Sony also releases:

Sony PC ports of old games released in 2024
  1. Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut
  2. Horizon Forbidden West: Complete Edition
  3. God of War Ragnarök
PS/PSP/PS2 Classics released in 2024
  1. 2Xtreme
  2. Cool Boarders (Published by Sony Interactive Entertainment in North America and PAL)
  3. Daxter
  4. G-Police
  5. Ghosthunter
  6. Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier
  7. Jeanne d'Arc
  8. Jet Moto 2
  9. MediEvil
  10. Ore no Shikabane o Koete Yuke (Japan only)
  11. Rally Cross
  12. Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
  13. Resistance: Retribution
  14. Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus

We're in the half of the year, they can even announce more 2024 releases.

And as usual, PS also will also have way more 3r party console exclusives in 2024 than Nintendo, featuring games like FFVII Rebirth, Zenless Zone Zero, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill: The Short Message and a long etc.

What makes you think that Sony is headed in the same direction as Nintendo? That's the new MS is doing it, so Sony will do it too

What I see is Sony releasing a true portable that runs the same games as the PS4 and maybe some PS5 games with special lower settings profiles (like for the pro, but in the other direction).

But not a 2 in 1.

Of course they count but you have good remakes and bad remakes. Sony remakes games already perfectly playable on a PS5 like Last of Us so people aren't being unfair if they shit on it but praise Nintendo's remakes.
About externally developed exclusives do you want to know why they are better received for Nintendo? Go to Wikipedia and look at the list of games developed by studios like Camelot Software, Game Freak, Good-Feel, Grezzo, HAL or Intelligent Systems. Pretty much you're gonna see Nintendo only going back decades even in some cases. Sony has nothing like that currently.

Another thread where we count 3rd party externally developed games for Nintendo but not for Sony.

Because if you did you’d notice they have released (published) around the same amount of games this year

If we’re counting 2nd party games and remasters/ports like Nintendo then the list looks like this for sony

  • Last of Us Part 2 Remastered
  • Helldivers 2
  • Stellar Blade
  • Horizon Forbidden West PC
  • MLB The Show 24
  • Ghost of Tsushima PC
  • Rise of The Ronin
  • Destiny 2 The Final Shape
  • Concord
  • God of War Ragnarok PC
  • Astro Bot
  • Until Dawn Remake
  • Lego Horizon Adventure
Nintendo’s biggest new games this year (mario luigi brotherhood, Princess Peach Showtime, and Zelda Echoes of Wisom) are all through partner studios. Nintendo’s big 10M plus sellers are all being saved for next year, just like Sony (and sony already released a 15m seller this year)
Agree with your post in general, excep for the part where you count the 3 PC ports in the games published by Playstation. I think the OT was comparing the games that Nintendo published for Switch to what Playstation published on PS5. Port to the PC are of no interest to PS users ( some think they are indeeed a negative) so I don't think that shoul be counted in this contest

Thts because sony was forced to buy their parterner studios like Insomniac, Bluepoint, Housemarque, etc. No one else would really buy NIntendo’s partner studios but them. There are tons of companies who would buy the type of studios sony work with, embracer, netease, tencent, microsoft, meta, etc.

Those games also don’t review that well, princess peach showtime, mario vs donkey kong, endless ocean and world championship games are all rated in the mid 70’s to low 60’s, and they are full priced games that rarely go on sale.

I hate to shit talk Nintendo because this is obviously a bait thread but this is an on-going an exhausting conversation that keeps popping up this year simply for the fact that a lot of those externally developed nintendo games use their characters and Nintendo themselves are secretive about who works on them, thats the only difference.

People lost their mind when Ronin scored a 76, but are willing to glaze Nintendo’s output for a whole ist of of mediocre ports and externally developed games.
