I still don't think the Switch numbers are impressive, since it occupied the space left by both home and handheld consoles. All in all, they are selling way less consoles than before the switch.

I mean, the nintendo home consoles weren’t really pulling their weight anyway outside of the Wii. They were contributing 10-30m for 4 generations. Nintendos handhelds have always been the key money maker for them, this is just a continuation of that while retaining the little audience they had left with home consoles. Its impressive either way to sell 130m of hardware.

And Zelda’s sales are absolutely insane, theres nothing else aside from GTA that are gonna do sales like that anytime soon and thats on multiple platforms.

Only thing is, it seems like Nintendo kind of blew their load with that. I expect Wonder to do well but not 10m in a month well. Then the next big nintendo game has to be a new mario kart or 3d mario, which i can’t see them dropping until the next hardware line

This was really helpful and kind of drives the point. Let's not forget the 3DS (which is a separate console), and home consoles (Wii U / Gamecube). The switch is a juggernaut, but it's not impressive considering it's taking over two market segments at once.

Thanks @Evilms

Switch will start to be phased out next-year.
It won't reach DS numbers.

The only chance was if it has no successor in the next 3 years.
hard to say

even if it's true that sales of Nintendo consoles tend to fall apart once the successor arrives.

Wii > Wii U
Ds > 3Ds
3Ds > Switch

so wait and see

They aren't at the high of DS+Wii but are beating combined sales of every other home console/handheld generation. The idea that its doing anything other than amazingly well is laughable.

Platinum should have done timed exclusivity deals with Nintendo Just like square did with octopath traveler.

Their reasoning was that Bayonetta didn't sell that much as muktiplat but look at those numbers for 2 ,3 and Astral chain...
