Nintendo will not participate in the annual Gamescom, which has already been described by Germany's Federal Association of Interactive Entertainment Software as "one of the most popular ever." The Cologne trade fair attracted more than 320,000 visitors in 2023, and this year's pre-sales hint at another record-breaking event; nevertheless, the Japanese giant has decided not to return to Germany, in what by the way has been dubbed as the possible unveiling period for its new console.

I assume this means they won't show Switch 2 before late August, meaning pretty likely won't be released in 2024 and maybe would release it on March 2025 instead. It also could mean they saved until then most of the interesting games they had for late 2024, having nothing specially big to be shown/playable by users on Gamescom.

I assume they may announce it on TGS, or maybe in a late December / January dedicated Nintendo Direct online event.
