No Sony at Gamescom means showcase is imminent

I think Hogwarts would get shown again at The Game Awards instead of the PlayStation Showcase simply because it would only be a few weeks of time in between shows but we'll see. I'll go with it won't be on the showcase. As for Deathloop, huge difference between having a marketing deal for Hogwarts and paying for a one year timed exclusivity for Deathloop.

Agree with the second part especially with Valkyrie Elysium having a leak about having a demo available soon.

I'm not Tsushima 2 for at least two years. First game just released two years ago, they then released Legends and last year, the Iki Island expansion. If anything, they probably just went into full production for it. I would be surprised f they reveal Tsushima 2 in any way, shape or form this year.

Yeah, I can see Pixel Opus next game. Genie released October 2019 so they could have something ready to show. They are making an AAA new IP so i can definitely see the game taking around 5+ years especially when you factor in Covid for 2020/2021 where the vast majority were working remotely.

I think when they say they are making 12 service games they mean straight up battle passes, and seasons, and possibly f2p. If we get another tsushima legends i bet its gonna be it’s own game like factions, the exception might be Haven who makes more of a social sim type of game

I just hope sony carries that high quality polish with state of the art graphics, good music, and good combat to their GAAS titles. I really hope Helldivers 2 is returnal level upgrade at least

When i think about what i want sonys service games to look like i always think of Embark studios. I think they got the sauce right now. Everything I’ve seen from them is the exact type of game i would want from sony, really good graphics, design, animations, ideas, etc.

Arc Raiders - 3rd person co-op game where you take down large robots and got rocket boots? Give me.

The Finals- battle royal where the entire level is destructible and you can kill people buy bombing buildings they’re in? Give me

If they have another lacking show, then its clear to me Jim and Herman havent taken the right direction. We’re 2 years into the PS5 and the shows since the PS5 annoucement have been really lacking when it comes to 1st and 3rd party exclusives. State of Plays purely suck. Playstations shows were pretty bad for 2 years before the PS5 too.

2018 - Just 4 showings of TLOU2-GOT-Death Stranding -Spiderman ( None were new annoucements, all announced a year before at least )
2019 - No show
2020 - September show was just repeated stuff from the PS5 Reveal show except FF16 & Returnal ( Was a waste of time Mostly showing deathloop, Kena, Ghostwire etc… )
2021 - Spiderman 2 and Wolverine ( another lackluster event )


The shows kinda sucked compared to the events Playstation was showing during the PS3 and PS4 days.
Last chance for me, if the event is lacking, No1 can convince me Jim/Herman are doing a good job.

What I want:
-Show me new 1st party games coming in 2023/2024. We’re 2 years in, show me some new ip and big sequels From Playstation Worldwide Studios.

-Show me some of these Gaas games

-Show me 3rd party exclusives. Sony has shat on its Japan studios. Show me what exclusives you have from Atlus, Miyazaki, Kojima etc.
During the PS3/PS4 we got Nioh from Team Ninja, Yakuza and Persona from Sega, Demons Souls and Bloodborne from Miyzaki. MGS4/Deathstranding from Kojima. Teams like Supermassive and Quantic dream were making exclusives for Playstation during PS3/PS4…and lots more.
This gen we’re getting close to nothing. Lost Persona, Yakuza, Team Ninja’s new game, Kojima making a game for MS, no word from Miyazaki.… Not good

GoWR will have a exclusive State of Play around 1 month before launch when they will show everything they want before release.

Anyone remember DokeV? I would love to see more of that game, actually. It was at one of PlayStation's showcases, either the September 2020 or September 2021 one (IIRC the latter). Some worries popped up shortly after that it was an MMO but the dev came out super quick and debunked that, so my interest has remained quite high since then.

I feel like Sony needs to do more in terms of funding or brand associating with those types of titles, if they aren't already in the case of DokeV. Games like that have still left me more impressed than the majority of what's been shown at these gaming events since; if Nintendo had hardware that wasn't pre-2012 in performance they would likely jump at the opportunity to fund or do something with some of these more whimsical games out there like DokeV.

But yeah, that's another reason I'm quite looking forward to the Pixelopus game, I just like seeing more games of that variety in the high-end AA/AAA space from companies besides Nintendo. And I do agree that it'd serve Sony well to balance out the glimpse into their near-future release slate because for the past several months we've heard and seen quite a lot more moves WRT the live-service/GaaS plans more so than the more traditional single-player story-driven type of content, in terms of official news.

I mean if you think about it, we've mainly just gotten updates on Ragnarok in terms of 1P content, if ignoring VR games. GT7 and HFW did release earlier but it's been a few months since those. 3P exclusives-wise we've gotten a lot of Square-Enix updates but these were also games revealed either at the September 2021 Showcase or earlier, outside of FF VII Part 2. In terms of 1P/3P single-player exclusives I don't think anything much new has actually been revealed, definitely not much that is for 2023 or 2024 outside of FF VII Part 2, again if ignoring VR games. Maybe in a way you can say Sony have the opposite problem of Microsoft; where too much of MS's slate for I'd say roughly 5 or 6 years (2020 - 2026) has either already been revealed officially or copiously leaked by insiders, most of Sony's projects especially the single-player content, is still mostly unknown.

Sure as hell don't want leakers spoiling the fun or trying to drive agendas/narratives ahead of official announcements, but a few more official reveals would be nice. I kind of get why they may have been holding back though, when you consider the severe chip shortages which have only finally seemed to start easing for PS5 availability. So with more PS5s now available and selling well, I think we'll finally start to get announcements for new PS5-only games starting soon.

TBH I haven't mind some of the SoPs, especially the one in June. That was probably the best SoP yet. I get your frustrations tho, but I also look at it like this: what was necessarily the point for Sony to push a slate of new 1P/3P exclusives reveals if they were struggling to make enough PS5s to meet demand due to the shortages, which have only just now began to ease up?

Hopefully, they start making announcements for such new games at future shows now that they're exponentially growing their rate of PS5 production and thus sales. I think a couple of big announcements in that regard are likely part of a measured push to hit their FY sales targets, as well.

I Just don’t have much faith in there shows, how they have been reserved since 2018 and repeat stuff is over and over again. No complaints with the game released though lol

The June state of play had some amazing showings but personally I want them to show me why Ive bought a PS5 over anything else. They aren’t doing that compared to the previous generations
