Just to note NPD doesn't include official bundles in the ranking.
Avoiding the usual HFW is selling due bundles.
Official bundles... these ones made by the platform holder where the console box has the picture of the game and all are not counted.Damn really? I don’t believe Mario Kart numbers don’t include the bundles. When I bought mine, it came seperate with the Switch. Same price as a Switch with no game, so obviously got the one with a free game
Chad Warden right now reading thatIs Sony going for the 3:1 ratio? The Xbox Dildo... Sorry, streaming stick, can't come soon enough. They can sell it for 50 quid with a full 12 month gamepass and then add it to the "series" sales.
Ps5 number 1 in units and dollars
Horizon top 5 seller for the year
The last of us part 1 top 5
Spider-man and miles still charting
Gran turismo 7 top 10
MLB still charting
Ragnarok is coming
remember when the stock shortages were hurting PlayStation earlier this year and people were acting like this was the end of the PlayStation brand lol.
Sony has been dominating the second half of this year so far
even with the price spike in august/september they still can't keep up with demand! The only thing similar with PS5 and PS3 is that PS5 is close to the price of the PS3 however they are completely different when it comes to sales in both hardware and software!People were saying this was gonna be another PS3 gen for Sony lmao
There are still people that think it won’t catch up to the ps4. They forget Ragnarok isn’t even the biggest system seller, Spider-Man is, and its next gen only
Horrific performance. Sony is doomed.

Next year.
PS5 is a beast
Edit: for everybody complaining about tlou pt1 not needing a remake, it seemed to be doing great despite the PS5's limited install base. Also Horizon still charting despite bundles of the game with the system not being counted towards its software placement.

that beaurt dude is on neogaf on the NPD thread completely silent about how doubtful he was after the august 2022 thread on PS5 hitting 1 million this year and now is going with the narrative that TLOU pt1 placement is unimpressive since its about what saints row sold completely missing the fact that this game is on PS5 only and is missing the install base of PS4, XB1, XBS s and x, and PC (for now)Yeah HFW performance is probably surprising quite a few people who insisted SO HARD to paint it as a failure earlier in the year. They had four Sony 1P games to pick from, knew GT games normally sell very well regardless, thought they had their shot with HFW but that's blown up in their face, have been trying now with TLOU Part 1 Remake despite Sony never placing expectations for it on the level of their other releases this year, and know that any such narrative against GOW Ragnarok will implode before they even have time to try throwing it over the castle wall.
So they're praying TLOU Part 1 bombs so they can get at least a 25% grade. Which is still failing, but they at least want to chart .
Wrong Edge gif; you ALWAYS gotta go with this one:
Well, assuming MS's own Tweet on install base numbers is true (their PS one is exaggerated a bit though; it should be a bit lower) and Ampere's analysis a couple months ago is accurate, assuming PS5's sold at least as many systems between then and now as MS (likely would have sold more), the ratio difference would be 1.6:1 which is slightly more than the 1.4:1 PS4 had over XBO at a similar point in their lifecycle.
Seeing that PS5 supply will be increasing a ton (at least in Western territories) in time for GOW Ragnarok and the holidays, and MS having said they expect Series shortages to persist into some time 2023, I wouldn't be surprised if the sales gap for PS5 extends to 1.8:1 by the end of the year. 2:1 might be more unlikely but it's not out of reach of possibility, just depends on stock of PS5s.
FWIW I think if supply for Series X in particular were a bit better in Western territories during the same period, Xbox probably could manage to keep the ratio a tad smaller, maybe maintain the 1.6:1 delta assuming they had supply to meet their demand. Scary thing though is, even with what Sony produces for PS5 over the holidays, I don't think that'll be enough to meet PS5 demand in particular and I think, if both systems had supply to meet demand, PS5 would probably be at least 2:1 over Xbox Series by now (and that's also accounting for Xbox Series having better stock, mainly thanks to Series X).

PS5's train is unstoppable now.
