NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 reportedly launches before RTX 5090

Nothing is set in stone yet, and it is unlikely to be confirmed by anyone at this point, but one thing is certain: when it comes to NVIDIA GPU leaks, Kopite7kimi seems to be one of the most reliable sources. The leaker has responded to claims that the RTX 5090 graphics card could be the only model launching this year. These reports have no basis and technically make no sense, but Kopite wants to set the record straight.

According to the leaker, the GeForce RTX 5080 should actually appear before the RTX 5090, the supposed next-gen flagship GPU based on the Blackwell architecture. Contrary to the reports that the RTX 5090 would be the only SKU launching this year, it would actually be released after the RTX 5080.

But xx90 or xx80TI were always launched after xx80.
xx80 was always the first on a new nVidia generation.

but 3080 released before 3090.

Edit - They were announced together in September 20, 2022.
Just the availability was different.

Yeah I think previously the Titan would release first, then the 80 card.

80 series were always the standard high end card and the main focus of the lineup.

80ti 80 super 90 95 (Dual GPU) Titan were typically released later. This goes to show that NVIDIA just wants to focus on the whales.

Yeah I think previously the Titan would release first, then the 80 card.

The exception was Titan GK that released before GTX 780.

Titan GM released after GTX 980.
Titan GP released together with GTX 1080.

that all changed this gen, the 90 became the standard high end.

Hopefully the 80 will be the 102. Probably not upgrading this gen as my 3080 is still running great though.
