Okay but this isn't the same in context. This is a case of an original IP they own and created, potentially being completely plagiarized (Palworld creature mesh assets traced over Pokemon ones with slight changes to avoid copyright issues, for example), and whatever action Nintendo takes would be in interest of protecting its IP.
So it would be a justifiable move in this case, IMO, unlike the draconian licensing agreements they made 3P devs/pubs do during the Famicom/NES era.
