Once more, our PC gamers show that they aren’t buying games. This is yet more confirmation that Sony simply doesn't rely on this platform.

Surprise, surprise.

But in fairness, one of the guys did say RE4 is so much more popular than RE2 or 3...because people shy away from actual horror games and prefer it to be more action based.

Most PC gamers doesn’t buy games at launch… they wait fire sales.

They don’t have these “I can’t wait to play” like console players and so that is because consoles always have a bigger ratio at launch compared to PC.

And after years PC catch in some games (mostly RPGs) but the revenue at fire sale is always a tiny bit of what you got on console at launch.

That is why companies like Rockstar never do day one games on PC… it is a waste of time and resources.

That is low as fuck for a big well-known IP. I was expecting 50k+. They always find an excuse why they don't want to buy games. What is it this time? The reviews defied every expectations and it looks great.

Publishers can't rely on these sales to be profitable.

Interest in straight horror games is a lot lower than the genre's extremely loud fans would lead you to believe.

Silent Hill isn't a big well known ip. All the games put together sold like 9 million copies.in comparison, Resident evil does that in just 1 game.... It's somewhat popular with a cult following, but it's nowhere near big well known ip status.

gta 6 on pc would do wukong numbers, probably more on day and date release. Bad take from you. But most of your takes are bad, so what can i expect?

Sure it would.

Take 2 and Rockstar are idiots.

They chose console first for a reason.

Pc gamers have other games to play and already have silent hill to play, with mods or through emulation.
Pc gamers don't have to buy remakes because they still have access to the originals, for free.

I'm not sure how this is hard to understand.

Silent Hill not well-known? I've heard it all lmao 🤣

25 years old franchise with tons of games, movies, spinoffs, etc.

PT and the blue box conspiracy was the most talked about conspiracy ever and that was recent. The interest for Silent Hill was there.

Cool, doesn't change the fact that Sony will go day and date.

It's why I caution people not to rely too heavily on concurrent players at launch.

There are so many variables that go into whether a game has a lot of concurrent players at launch on PC.

  • What other games are available at the time and the price of those other games as well as the length of those games
  • The length of the game released
  • The price of the game released
  • The immediate demand
  • Whether the game has a multiplayer component
  • The age of the game
and more

If you release at a time where everyone is buying Space Marine 2 for example, your launch sales and peak concurrent players might be a lot lower because everyone is playing space marine 2 on top of whatever other GaaS game is popular at the time.

Let's examine the top 12 global sellers on steam right now

  • Dragon Ball Sparking Zero - Just released, didn't have early access to my knowledge, has multiplayer component
    • I doubt this has legs on steam as most fighting games don't, but it's also the first major DBZ game since Akira Toriyama's passing
  • CS2 - Always high on the Steam charts
  • Silent Hill 2 - Just released, 70 dollar game, 15 hour time to beat, should see a spike in concurrent players especially over the weekend
  • Throne and Liberty - F2P
  • Stardew Valley - Recently updated, on sale for 7.49
  • Destiny 2 - Not sure why it is spiking at the moment.
  • Diablo 4 - People preparing for the expansion
  • Detroit Become Human - On sale for 12 dollars
  • Metaphor Re:Fantazio - releasing on the 11th, steep price at 70 dollars
  • EA FC 25 - Popular, but more popular on console
  • Dead by Daylight - Probably popular because twitch streamers are playing it for Halloween
  • Dota 2 - See CS2

the games aren't that popular chief. 9 millions copies sold through our their life time isn't great. Also the movies were meh. Silent Hill is no resident evil. It's kinda niche. Calling silent Hill a big well known ip is wrong. Big well known IPS are elden ring, GTA, Fall Out, Elder Scrolls, Cyberpunk etc. Silent Hill can't even sniff the draws of those.
