Playstation accounted for roughly 40% of physical games sold in the US in 2023. Xbox less than 10%. Nintendo more than Half.

So

Nintendo : > 50%
PlayStation : ~40%
Xbox : < 10%

It smells like the end on Xbox.

If we calculate the maximum or minimum Sony values, more than 50% can mean 90.01% for Nintendo and less than 10% can mean 9.99% for MS, Sony getting 0%. Or can also mean Nintendo getting 50.01% and MS getting 0.01% and Sony getting 49.98%.

So Sony has something in the range from 0% (non-realistic minimum) to 49.98% (non-realistic maximum).

Being more realistic, Nintendo may have around 55%, MS around 8%, so Sony should be pretty likely between 35-40%.

MS being less than 10% of the physical market makes understandable that retailers may stop selling their games there, and in other markets where they have even worse numbers even more. So it's understandable MS would stopp selling physical games. Not the case for Sony and Nintendo.

Lol why do you think he chose 50% and not 60, 70, 80 or 90%?

I think he did so because the real number is somewhere between 50% and 56%.

This is the reason of why when I did choose 55% for my estimate, when I wasn't calculating the possible maximium or minimum value for PS.

I tweaked the post to make it more clear.

PlayStation sells a lot of physical copies, just in the Insomniac leak we saw their first party games never surpass 50% digitally, meaning the MAJORITY of the sales come from physical copies, Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart for example, had a 27% digital and 73% physical attach rate, for PlayStation, physical is going nowhere, PS6 gonna have a disc drive option

the only first party game that surpassed 50% digital is MLB the Show, and probably because it's available on Xbox and Nintendo platforms as well

That's really good in comparison to Nintendo and in the most competitive market for PlayStation.

Impressive.

They should focus on the physical selling point more in future, as everyone else is gone digital in high end gaming.
