Playstation accounted for roughly 40% of physical games sold in the US in 2023. Xbox less than 10%. Nintendo more than Half.

This is all pre-Covid and thus literally worthless when discussing modern retail.
If you'd taken 2 seconds to read the table you'd realise that what you said is dumb. But you didn't.

That data is from late 2021 or early to mid 2022

Very well, your lifetime sales of PS4 games chart is *mostly* pre-covid, and thus worthless.

So what is Death Stranding 1.5 at 89% physical, coming out after covid? You realize that most of the data for PS4 games will include a huge bump in digital ratio due to 2020 being the covid year+lockdowns? You just aren't really making yourself look very smart here.

Looks like Sony have more of a reason to continue offering physical options than MS does at least.

Hopefully the PS6 at least continues to have the option for physical media.

Definitely will. Xbox situation is the gamepass effect that demographics doesn't buy many games to begin with in general because of it.

They even bothered with making all new PS5 models have an option to add a disk drive.

What they should explore more are physical deluxe editions, there is definitely a market for more of them.

This is saying sony makes 40 percent of all physical in the US, not physical is only 40 percent of playstation software sales. With that said, that sound slike alot still and no reason to completely abandon physical retail.

Physical is actually a tiny percentage of playstation software sales for various reasons
