I agree. But people also attribute Bioshock and Mass Effect as successes for Xbox in 2007, and those weren’t MS’s games.
Plus without Sony that new FFVII trilogy could not even exists…

So it existence and success/failure are tied to Sony.

People forget Sony pitched the idea to SE in 2014, and is probably a big reason why it moved forward, as they wanted to replicate that marketing power they had in 1997 with the OG.... makes sense though, its been a decade.

They've had a great year I will have to admit starting with The Last of Us 2 to Silent Hill 2. I don't think they had a single miss this year and that includes Concord which was a great game. I can't comment on Rise of The Ronin as I'm not a fan of Team Ninja's games but many loved it.

So I can only hope they will have a great 2025 as well. Jim Ryan left us with many good parting gifts in the form of games.

I guess 2025 will be an extension of that, but I hope they have many more good 3rd parties exclusives lined up as well.

Good year for the ps5 all software releases considered. A bit too heavy on the rpg side but from Elden ring to Persona you were eating.

I do feel as tho PlayStation studios itself needing something more to end the year.

There’s was variety but carved into niche corners. Concord the only real stain… but a big enough one

2024 has been an excellent year for PlayStation 5. A few JRPG's like Granblue Fantasy Relink, Trails, Ys X in two weeks and of course Final Fantasy VII Rebirth along with a few timed exclusives in Black Myth Wukong and Silent Hill 2 with Sony's own published games in Rise of the Ronin, Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade, Astro Bot and the upcoming Lego Horizon Adventures makes it a great year overall.

For me, I enjoyed the few hours I played of Helldivers 2 even though I know that I will never ever complete it solo, Ronin was a great 8.0/10 but Tsushima is far superior in every way, Stellar Blade was an excellent 9.0/10 and one of only two games I ever went after the Platinum trophy and did get. Astro Bot is an excellent 9.0/10 platformer and hoping they start working on a sequel next year. Rebirth is also an excellent 9.0/10 JRPG. Wukong like Helldivers 2, I know im not beating it but it's a great game.

Overall a great year for PlayStation 5.

Sorry but the combat system in Ronin runs laps around tsushima if you're willing to learn its depth nuances!

To each their own but I just didn't care for it and way too much loot for no apparent reason.

Yes, as usual they are having a great year with stuff like FFVII Rebirth, Granblue Fantasy Relink, Helldivers 2, Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade, Destiny 2 The Final Shape, Wukong, ZZZ or Astro Bot, remasters/remaskes like TLOU2R, Until Dawn or Silent Hill 2 and upcoming stuff like Lego Horizon, (looks good) Horizon Remastered or My First Gran Turismo.

On top of that, stuff like the PS5 Pro, the anniversary hardware and accesories and so on (like the GoT or GoWR PC ports for whoever is interested on them).

As Totoki said, this year they didn't have the mainline sequel of any first party top tier blockbuster IPs. But still, they had a great year with a good amount of awesome stuff for people with many different tastes.

Why do yall attribute ff7 rebirth
Console exclusivity moneyhatted by Sony.

Can’t disagree with you on the loot lol, and like I said it rewards those who are patient and willing to learn.. positive to some negative to others

Don't get me wrong, it's not that it's bad or anything like that. The combat system is arguably the strongest aspect (some may say the story/characters) of the game but playing it seven years after Nioh and almost four years after Tsushima, it's more of a "yeah, I have played and done this before" and the "other game(s) did it better".

That's all. Nothing bad or anything. If Ronin released before Tsushima especially, I think that it would have been much more praised but after Tsushima, it simply leaves a lot to be desired.

Yet some people still believe “PS5 has no games” because random dudes on social media want to look cool by saying it or have an agenda. People out there need to use their brains more.
These people are ai bots accounts especially on x and reddit
It's so obvious now
If you talk with actual people in the real world outside the ai social media about ps5 has no games meme they will laugh at you

Ronin is like a 6.5 at best. By the time I reached act 3 I wanted the first 60 hours back. Open world slog.
