Fair enough. But a lot of people have multiple systems.
Is the owners of multiple platforms that big in numbers?

I mean I can see somebody having a PS5 or PC + Switch.
But PS5 + PC or PC + Xbox or PS5 + Xbox?
I think only a very small part of the userbases overlaps.

It is a 2008 stats (when basically most of games were tied to one single platform)... do you think it changed that much now that most of games can be played in any platform?

There is this 2023 study in Europe that shows 47% plays in multi platform when you add mobile to the mix.
When you look only at console and PC it drops to 15% (and that includes Switch on console side).

IMO I don't think gamers have time to multiple platforms.
They basically focus in a single platform.
Most multi platform guys come from the industry (journalists, reviewers, etc).

I never felt the need of another console (or PC)... the things changes with a portable... it fits perfectly the console.
If PlayStation had a console + portable then it should be the best of all world (same account across devices).
But the combo PS5 + Switch is really good alternative.

Not a month for me, let's see what they include in Extra and Premium.

Same. Not much for me this month unlike the previous months, I wonder which classics we get this month though.

I have a backlog of older games anyway. Started Dino Crisis the other day

According to that graph 35% only play on mobile, 9% play only in console only, and 8% play only in PC.

So, 52% only in once of these three platform types. Meaning 48% play on any combination of PC+console+mobile. If there are >3B gamers (can't remember the most recent number, I think it was 3.3B), then this is >1.5B players.

The industry and journalists may be several dozen of thousand people, maybe up to around 100-200K people.

So maybe around one of every 100 multiplatform gamers (understanding multiplatform not as multiple console brands, or multiple computer brands or multiple mobile brands but instead those who play mobie+PC, mobile + console, PC+console or PC+console+mobile). And this would be if all the industry members and journalists were this type of 'multiplayer' gamers, which isn't the case at all.

The pic is biased.
Mobile and portable being added as consoles screw up things.

Like I said a portable is a complement to consoles... people buys PS5 + Swtich or PC + Switch or Xbox + Switch.
But I don't see a lot of people buying PC + PS5, PC + Xbox or PS5 + Xbox.
I don't see that overlap being that big.

The own pic shows that even with Switch added these that own console + PC are 15%.
If you remove portables you will have very close numbers to what NPD showed in 2008.

I don't remember if it was a public/free document, but I remember a similary research from some years ago with a graph that compared the overlap between Xbox, PS, Switch and PC.

Out of them the one with the biggest overlap by far was Switch, I assume because of its portable side and small amount of big multiplatform games. So it gave the idea that Switch is the main secondary platform for many people.

The other overlaps were relatively way smaller.

Only Hotwheels for me. Enjoyed the first one through + already.

Already played Ghostwire.

Hoped the Death Note game would have been something cool, but it's an online game instead, so meh.

I only own PlayStation and don't care about others 🤷‍♂️
So given away on others platforms have zero weight in what I think about a game.
It was also part of Extra a while ago.
