I wish I didn't have to asterisk all my enjoyment of the device for its short-sighted half-product-ness.
I hate remote play ONLY, the freezes to catchup with inputs - like I'll be going around a game menu, then it'll freeze and "catch-up", inputting like 5 menu movements in at once. This is just moving around a menu, nothing taxing. I can't imagine playing something intensive like a fighting game comfortably on this, even against the CPU. And that's when I'm not surfing the purple wormhole to reconnect ffs.
I'm over it not being "Enhanced PS Vita" shaped like a GPDWIN4, but I'll never give up the stance that this POS should have:
- PS+ cloud streaming
- Storage and DL games for when WiFi/data signal dead
- Media apps (not possible over remote play only setup)
- Direct-to-console connection like Vita had
Stop being scared little bitches, Sony. A PSVita redo with all buttons could have done a better job back then certainly, than where they've clawed themselves back-to with the Portal today. You've lost 10 years fucking around and now Switch/Deck/Others are popular, and probably an Xbox/Surface handheld device soon enough.
A new Vita with all buttons would have been more serviceable to the Remote Play PS4 app on there back then, because those console games expected L2, R2 and clickable sticks. Even better if they just flashed the PS4 OS onto the thing, and edited it like the fake PS3 XBM on PS+ game streaming.
I bought this product in the vain hopes of showing encouragement towards the supposed "Project Q (non-Lite)" codenamed-device. But Sony are going about this completely stupidly.
