Predict the top 5 best-selling games of 2023.

Only a few months remain until the end of 2023. I think it's time for us to put our differences aside and make our predictions for the top 5 best-selling games of the year.

Mine would be

1. Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - 25 million units
2. Hogwarts Legacy - 19 million units
3. COD MW3 - 16 million units
4. EA sports FC 2024 - 16 million units
5. Super Mario Bros. Wonder - 15 million units

Yeah I will probably go with that top 5.

But not sure about EA Sorts FC. The annual Fifa buying crowd arent the smartest, they might still look for Fifa…
Maybe Baldurs Gate 3 or Spiderman 2 hit the top 5

Think Spiderman 2 will creep in the Top 5 even though it will be released late in the year.

Not sure EA FC 2024 will be top 5. We don’t know what damage the lack of FIFA branding will do.

CoD and EA FC are sadly a given, besides them I say

1. Zelda TOTK
2. Hogwarts Legacy
3. Super Mario Bros. Wonder
4. Spider-Man 2
5. Very hard to say between Baldur's Gate 3, Final Fantasy 16, and Starfield

Starfield could do well despite GamePass because any true PC gamer with self respect will be buying it on Steam.

It's already the 9th best selling game of the year according to NPD, and that was with only ONE week of sales.

Had to edit in Harry Potter to kick out Bg3. Forgot it existed… not a hater of it at all as I generally really liked the movies just no intention to ever play the game cuz … don’t care.

FF16 ain’t moving shit post launch. It’s done.

I don’t think Starfield should move ANY units due to gamespass and the cheapest option for consumers is the best but the one day I walk into GameStop to trade in my switch and I see three lardasses preordering so I guess that’s something … I think core Bethesda fans will buy it at full retail price anyway.

The majority of its sales were already there, and it's not going to move any substantial unit numbers because the JRPG genre is very frontloaded. The upcoming games like COD MW3, Starfield, Spidey 2, Super Mario Wonder, Super Mario RPG, BG3, MK8D, EA Sports FC 24, and a few others are going to easily overtake FFXVI.
Annual sales numbers for GTAV and MK8D are higher than what FFXVI sales are going to be at the end of the year.

That’s not true, I bet FF16 is selling very well right now thanks to the PS5 discounts this week. The more PS5s that sell, the better FF16 will sell.
It will have long legs for the rest of the year.

You said TOP 20, if it’s already #9 within a week, I highly doubt 11 more games will overtake it. You only listed 8 games. As PS5 install base grows, so will ff16 sales.

I like this one. Considering all players and the entire year. Hogwarts and Jedi Survivor keep trucking along and will share holiday success.

Op is pretty astute but I am going to disagree slightly on one game. I think people are over-estimating how quickly Mario Wonder will generate sales. Its a long-tail game and will get there in the end but not this year. For those who are doing top 10, don't forget last year's CoD. It is almost certainly going to make the cut.

Starfield is less hyped than cyberpunk and is not on PS, and also on gamepass. Cyberpunk did 13m in preorders. When I look at these facts I just can't see Starfield getting more than 7-8m sales this year. I think every other game on my list does 10m+ this year.
