And we will still get hot takes thinking JRPGs and Tokyo jungle are the key to doing well in Japan. The Japanese market is completely different than it was 20 years ago but some just want to live in the past and blame Sony for consumer choices.
Just the fact that they barely put any storage inside the console discourages it. Also, their lack of high performance storage upgrade options (sd cards don't cut it).
This is as if they liked to sell shiny toys in boxes (which I think they do).
Not to mention their unwillingness to associate a license with an account properly and keeping things tied too closely to the hardware, creating hassles if the hardware is broken or stolen.
