At one point during its development, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was “running beautifully and smoothly” on Xbox 360

Despite how downtrodden my colleagues were with developing on PS3, most of them were still hardcore Sony fans and were not in favour of spending resources on such a test," Payton explains in the book.

"They believed Metal Gear Solid 4 would look and run terribly on Microsoft's older and inferior hardware.

"One fateful day, the Konami R&D team hosted a meeting where we got to see the fruits of their labour – Metal Gear Solid 4 running beautifully and smoothly on an Xbox 360."

According to Payton, although the port was possible on a technical level, it wasn't practical on a physical level.

Because PS3 games came on BD-ROM discs which could hold up to 54GB of storage, and Xbox 360 games came on DVD-ROM discs which could only hold up to 8.3GB, bringing Metal Gear Solid 4 to Xbox 360 would have required putting the game on numerous discs, something Konami wasn't willing to do.

Dang in which the Ps3 pulled it off with only 2. No wonder they didn't bother with the Xbox then.

It had 2 just the first disc was installation data. If you meant 1 just filor playing you're 100% correct.
It only has one. It installs and plays the game from the same one. I have both the original and the 25th anniversary release right here. They had a separate release for Metal Gear Online in Japan only. In the West, online came on the same disc as the base game.

The original release also had a special edition that came with a figure and a separate making of BluRay.

Recently played MGS2 again. The models look old but man, the environments still look good. They've always pushed what a given console can do. Even did 3D on the PSP.

I remember Ken Kutaragi giving this a game a shout-out right before he stepped down saying it made him proud of what they achieved with the PS3 hardware because of how good it looked at the time.

Sony needs to find a way to get this game remande for PS5 exclusively with Kojima involved. If they pull this off, it would be a sure fire megaton. Something the industry lacks these days, real excitement

ThIs will unfortunately never happen unless Konami gives the Franchise to Playstation since they own it. Unless Konami is on their possible purchase list.
